He taught me how to weave palm fronds into, fish traps, rice steamers, and hats, but what I learned most from Señor Guzman was how to accept people into a “village.” He used to tell me, “it takes multiple villages to make a town, but only takes two people to make a village.” This was the missing piece to the puzzle; however, I wouldn’t realize it until my mother was stationed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and we moved to York, Maine, a small town across the New Hampshire
