The minimum requirement is a high school diploma or GED, but most employers prefer to hire workers who have a related work experience or education beyond high school. (www.bls.gov). Certificates, associate’s, or bachelor degrees in a major such as human services are common for entry level case managers. These programs teach students to observe and interview patients, carry out treatment plans, and handle people who are undergoing a crisis. (www.bls.gov). Most programs include volunteering or internships. The level of education that a case manager has completed often determines the responsibilities they are given. Some with a high school diploma are probable going to do lower level work, for example helping clients fill out paperwork and some with a college education may organize program activities or manage a group home. (www.bls.gov). So according to the Journal titled, “Case Management and Community Matrons for Long Term Conditions: A Tough Job That Will Need Highly Trained Professionals”, you must have a higher education as well as years of experience to stay on top in the field.
