The Second Amendment states: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
The founders of the Constitution thought it was the people's rights to own guns in case the government became too powerful and started to oppress the people and also if foreigners came in to attack. In the world today ISIS or Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, a terrorist group is seen as a more common threat (San Bernandino shooting for example).

In 1949 Mao Tse-tung, a chairman for the Socialist Party used Gun Control to take control of China. He disarmed the Chinese people yet told them that he was doing it for their good. Then, with a government that was armed versus a people who had nothing for self-defense, Mao Tse-tung allowed the largest mass murder in the history of the world, killing approximately 20 million people. This whole situation started with Gun Control.
A second example was in 1933. A strong Nazi political leader named Adolph Hitler placed gun control in Germany. The gun control caused all Jews and "Enemies of State" to become unarmed while the socialists in Germany were allowed freedom of guns until World War 2. The Jews and "Enemies of State" were put into concentration camps for keeping guns of which the death of six million of these will forever be known as the Holocaust. Gun control is a tyrant's tool!
