A lot of people are against having gun control laws. One of the reasons that they use is that the second amendment of the constitution protects individual gun ownership. Guns are a part of the american tradition. Gun control laws would infringe upon the right to bare arms. Many people also believe that gun control laws infringe upon the right to self-defense and deny people a sense of safety. According to the National Rifle Association, guns are used for self-defense 2.5 million times a year. 2 A lot of people need protection; police cannot protect everyone. The United States should definately have stricter gun control laws especially because of the history that this country has with shootings: Columbine Highschool massacre, Sandy Hook, Las Vegas, movie theaters, churches, etc. It is a disgrace that americans have been through so many shootings, but we have yet to gain stricter gun control laws. I thought that at least by the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting, we would have changed as a society and realize that children, families have died because of the lack of gun control laws. Which side should we choose, America? We can only hope that one day America will have Gun control laws set in place so that everyone can be
