Gun Control Persuasive Speech
I am writing to you to address the situation of gun control. Gun control laws should be invoked so that there would be fewer deaths with guns. They should be enacted so that there could be fewer shootings which would result in fewer deaths. They should also be invoked because legally owned are often kept in homes which could result in criminals being able to take guns from people’s homes. Although guns control laws would help with the cause they would also worsen the cause because they are very often used in self-defence. Those are some of the reasons that gun control laws should be enacted and also why they shouldn’t be created.

Guns can be used in shootings which result in many deaths. In the text on NBCNews.com it states “At least 14 people were killed and two suspects were dead Wednesday after two people on a mission that authorities described as "possibly terrorism" barged into a holiday party in a California conference room and unleashed a bloodbath.” This shows that guns are used to hurt or kill people. This means that if there aren’t gun control laws, many people can get hurt

In the text on Gallup.com it shows, “In 1960, 49 people out of 100 had guns and by now still about 41 out of 100 people own guns This shows that the numbers really haven’t changed in the past few decades, which is not good. This also shows that it is still very easy for criminals to get access to guns. In the text on Gallup.com, it states, “In 1960 2 people out of 100 want the gun control laws to be less strict whereas now 11 people out of 100.” This shows that the numbers have greatly increased since 1960. This shows that many people still want the gun laws to be less strict which is not good because it would allow access to guns for criminals to be easier. Gun control laws would keep people from keeping guns in their homes which would to less frequent stolen and used guns by

James Q. Wilson writes in " Gun Control Isn't the Answer" about Americans having the right to own guns freely. He states that the rates of death will continue to rise even if there are gun laws. Gun control laws are laws that manage the sales, transfers, and possessions of firearms. In today's society the possessions of guns have skyrocketed through the roof, which is a great reason to have these laws. Contrary to what the author states, gun control is needed because our children are unsafe, homicide rates are rising, and the wrong people have guns.…

The role guns play in our society has long been a controversial topic for the past few years in the united states. Gun control advocates focus on the serious negative effects on gun availability on safety, while gun ownership advocates emphasize the lawful use of guns and their place in our history and culture. While our history and culture is important we need to address the current national problem in order to live in a safe enough society. In an effort to stabilize and decrease firearm related injuries and deaths in the U.S. a strong federal law to control guns is needed. In the bigger picture, we people will see the United States, as a Nation, as a better safer place to live in and not to die…

For the last couple of years, gun control has continued to be a huge controversial debate in Congress. This argument over whether gun control laws should be strict is nothing new to the world of politics. The ideas of gun control consist of laws that either keep away firearms from people, or allow one to keep guns for personal protection. They also control who the guns are being sold to and who can own them. In America, each state government has passed many gun control laws. Many people think that gun control is right because they think keeping people away from guns will reduce the amount of deaths each year. They also think that guns cause many of the deaths that had been committed each year. Whenever people hear the word gun, the thoughts…

Tacoma, the city I grew up in, was a nice and peaceful place until recently, the last couple of months before 2015 ended, was covered in news of mad mass shootings. Young lives were taken away, leaving only wounded hearts, sadness, and the question: What has gone wrong with society? Mass shootings have always been an issue. Studies show that mass shootings and gun ownerships have a direct relationship, that means, the more guns people own, the more likely for us to experience these incidents. Studies also show that the United States had nearly double the number of mass shootings than most of the developed countries combined.…

What would you say if you knew that there are more crimes with gun control than there is without it? Gun control is a terrible idea for society in so many ways that it’s not even funny. Because there will be those people out there that will figure out how to beat the system and keep guns in their possession, to harm a lot of people maybe even have a mass shooting. Well guess what and nobody else will have guns to protect their self’s or shoot that guy who’s start a mass shooting on a punch unarmed citizens. There is a bunch of data that proves that gun control increases the crime rates. Also conceal and carry helps with self-defense. And taking away guns is a horrible choice and it would be just plain stupid. Here’s something Linda Schmittroth said about gun control that I agree with a hundred percent, “In contrast proponents of the individual rights argument…

Gun control deals with a lot of facts and statistics. Agresti and Smith from Just Facts provides excellent facts on gun control. The first fact is crime and self defense. In 2014, there were roughly 14,249 murders and about 68% of those were with a weapon.(Agresti, Smith, 2016) This information provides a visual representation of just how many are gun related and non-gun related. A survey from the U.S. Department of Justice showed that of the 5.9 million crimes, only 10% were with a visible gun. This data shows that a small amount of crimes actually were with a gun and puts things into a different perspective. Other data shows that guns weren’t necessarily used for shooting, rather a scare tactic for felons. Agresti and Smith stated, “A 1994 survey conducted by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that Americans use guns to frighten away intruders who are breaking into their homes about 498,000 times per year.” This fact shows that guns aren’t always needed for its primary purpose and doesn’t hurt anyone. Guns when related to self-defense is very important and beneficial when compared to statistics. The next fact is background checks in the United States. The current federal law makes it illegal to purchase, possess, or transport firearms or ammunition if you fall under specific criteria. The criteria falls under the Gun Control Act (GCA) and it lists anyone that has been convicted for a…
