Gun Ownership Should NOT Be Banned
“Despite guns being banned in Honduras it has the highest murder rate in the world, yet in Switzerland almost all people have guns and it has the lowest murder rate in the world.” (Anderson) Many people and famous politicians disagree with guns because that is what many are killed by. Gun ownership should be allowed because it is a huge protection device against deadly threats to a family and yourself. There are many logical reasons why guns shouldn’t be banned. One of the biggest being that the second amendment in the Bill of Rights states that we the people have the freedom to bare arms. Many opponents want to ban guns because they are afraid what might happen when guns fall into the wrong hands. Also when purchasing a gun people are put through many extensive background checks to make sure they have no crime history or psychological problems. “The average gun owner never uses their gun to commit a crime.” (Marshall)Many never even use a firearm unless they are hunting while others are very careful fearing what might happen if something went wrong with a gun in their possession. As well as that people rely on the fact that they have a gun in the house for protection in case of emergency knowing that they probably don’t even have to shoot if the other person is unarmed. This for many is their only protection against threats that could be deadly. Also when I see someone in public with a gun I know they are to trust and will help in bad situations. Despite this many people don’t trust people carrying firearms because they think they will bust out and start shooting even though as I said early there are very extensive background checks required before getting a gun. If there is any trace of a mental problem or crime history then the person is immediately rejected and not allowed to purchase the

Gun violence dates back many years, around the time gun powder was first being produced in the 13th century. The first handgun was created in 1364 and was named the “hand cannon” (Hallowell 1), the name was self-explanatory. Nowadays hand guns are being produced that are smaller than the average persons’ palm, which is named the Swiss mini guns, these guns are being banned due to their extreme concealment capabilities. Guns revolutionized the world and brought high praises, until citizens started seeing the bad side of the guns. The fact that something so small can be so deadly can be frightening to people. Of course, I can see why people would not want guns to be banned since the constitution even allows the citizens to own a weapon. Just…

Although guns are good in some uses and protection, I think that guns should not be allowed because More than 500 children die annually from accidental gunshots. Some shoot themselves, while others kill friends or siblings after discovering a gun. Here are more scary stats: Americans own 200 million firearms, and 35 percent of homes contain at least one gun. Last year, a study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found more than 1.7 million children live in homes with loaded and unlocked guns. A recent study published in the Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine found 39 percent of kids…

All in all, it is not a good choice for American society at the present stage to ban gun. From the constitutional view, Gun Ban is contrary to the constitution of human rights and protection spirit; from the political view, it will increase the risk of tyranny; from the economic view, it will lead criminal squares to become one of the guns of the monopolist; from the social reality view, it leads to the lack of citizen means of self-defense; finally, from social culture view, it does not conform to the American culture tradition and social psychology. I think the key to the problem of gun crime is not the gun itself, but the deep problems of the society, such as poverty, social life and so on. I think gun control is just a…

The role guns play in our society has long been a controversial topic for the past few years in the united states. There are those who believe that guns do not belong in the hands of citizens and there are those who believe that guns are the foundation that protects our rights and liberties stated in the Constitution. There are too many leading factors as to why there should not be any stricter gun control laws. Some of these factors are that they go against our fundamental rights of self defense, give too much power to the government, and could potentially increase crime rates in the united states.…

The gun control debate is more than just a two-sided argument about whether guns should be legal or banned. The right of the people to keep and bear arms is not limited to what restrictions the government places on its people. Throughout history governments have used gun control to overpower its citizens for example, Hitler and Nazi Germany imposed very strict gun laws. Self-defense is one of the biggest reasons people are opposed to gun control. With the amount of violence in the United States today there is a reason to want to maintain that right. It is believed that disarming citizens would prevent crimes but criminals would still find a way to break the law. However, there are more options to disarm criminals, without taking the citizens rights away.…

There is this massive debate on whether or not the U.S should carry gun laws. In my perspective, I believe that we should not allow guns, but I know many people would disagree. If we banned guns, it would limit the violence in our country. The news would stop saying so and so people dead. Everyone, including children and adults, would be safe and happy knowing that no gun would harm them.…

The banning of firearms in America is an illegal act, and degrades the values this country was founded on. They not only play a vital role in many people's lives, but are useful tools, fun to use, and can protect people from harm. Our founding fathers wanted us to have them to protect ourselves from the government, and would be disgusted at our government's current abuse, and overall disregard of the constitution of the United States. A lot of people argue that guns kill people; this is untrue. Guns in the hands of a negligent person have potential to kill people, just as anything else.…

Guns do a lot of bad, but do a lot more good for society. Banning guns will not stop the problem, but will just make it worse. Guns are apart of our society as Americans they have been around since colonial years, and are not leaving anytime soon. “The number of guns in America has increased by more than 50 percent since 1993, and in that same period the gun homicide rate in the United States has dropped by half. (Kristof, The Times).” Guns offer protection for individuals. One day you could be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and a shooting breaks out, you will pray there is someone else there with a concealed firearm to help control the situation while waiting for police to arrive. They can’t do that if guns are banned. “We need to understand that we cannot stop crimes and murders. And banning guns would be a step, or two, backwards instead of moving forward in the right direction (The Times News).” The research conducted to produce this paper was drawn from a multitude of sources all with different…

The banning of guns is unconstitutional and strips us of our ability to defend ourselves. National Rifle Association CEO and Executive vice president Wayne LaPierre concludes: “The best way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.” LaPierre explains in this quote that the gun is not the issue, but it is the person who wields it. Gun control laws are made to keep homicide rates to a minimum, but a comparison between gun control law strength and homicide rates shows no correlation. As citizens of the United Sates we are given the freedom to bear firearms to protect ourselves. Enforcing gun control strips us of our constitutional right, does not effectively save lives, and only helps the criminals go along with their…

The first reason that guns should be banned for ordinary citizens is that guns are the sign of violence. Guns are made for killing and harming other human beings. In many states there are “Shoot First” laws that allow people to defend themselves in public using guns with no duty to retreat. The Shoot First law can be dangerous to other people who are present in the area and people can get injured and killed. Why should governments allow people to own and carry guns in the name of protection? When there are law and police in a country people do not…

The second reason guns should not be permitted to citizens is, their main purpose is to kill. Back when Americans first settled here, guns were a part in how Americans survived. Guns were accustomed to protect Puritans against intruders and animals. The Puritans also believed that killing another was immoral, unless threaten. These beliefs still exist today to an extent, but morals, lifestyles, and times have changed.
