Today in America there is a huge debate going on. Do we as Americans have the right to carry a fire arm, in our car, in our purse, or even on ourselves? Should they only be allowed in our homes? Who, if anyone should be allowed to own a gun? What will happen to the crime and death rates if laws are changed? There are many different opinions on this matter. In reality, allowing more people to own and carry firearms will decrease the crime and death rates.

Accidental deaths do occur from time to time. As do accidental deaths from people falling, in fact as many as 13, 322 people die from falling each year. How many people die from an accidental firearm death? 776. Accidental gun deaths among children have decreased by 50% over the past 25 years. Even though the population (and gun stock) has continued to increase. (128) Like it or not even if there were a ban on guns, there would still be accidental deaths because of them. The reasons for accidents like that are not because people own guns, it’s because there is a lack of respect and discipline when it comes to handling them. Yes, guns are a deadly weapon. If you do not have the proper training, and respect for something then an accident is bound to happen. You wouldn’t let a 12 or 13 year old get behind the wheel of a car with never having drove before, would you? Most likely, something bad would happen because there is no training involved. Same with guns, people that own guns need to be trained how to use and respect them for what they are.
Guns are meant to use for self defense, and with so many criminals that are using them to kill, rape, rob, and assault innocent people, we need them for self defense now, more than we ever did. Studies show that criminals are less likely to enter a home when someone is there for fear of being shot. Wouldn’t it make sense for every homeowner to own, and know
