Persuasive Essay On Gun Control Laws
People have been arguing about gun bans and gun control laws for years and years. It wasn’t until recent that the topic became a major problem in our society. The decision to outlaw the possession of a firearm has been very deeply discussed. Gun bans should not be passed because it leaves Americans defenseless against armed criminals. How would you feel if you didn’t have a gun to protect yourself against a home invader? The United States averages one school shooting per week since December 2012. Nothing has been done to change or enforce gun laws and that makes a lot of people angry. In December of 2012, six adults and 20 students were killed at sandy hook elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut. This was recorded as the most shocking example of gun violence since the columbine shooting in 1999. “Yet, perhaps the greatest tragedy is that absolutely nothing has changed since that awful day.” Some believe that if gun bans were put into place that the rate of school …show more content…
The black market industry will rise, criminal activity won’t stop but instead migrate and rise in certain areas. The problem is not the guns but the person holding the gun. A gun does not wake up one day and decide that it wants to kill someone, people do. Guns are not good or bad, it’s what good or bad people choose to do with the gun. Another problem with taking peoples guns away is that it is denying their right to bear arms. Amendments were not meant to be changed but enforced. Maybe next someone will use their words wrong and our right to freedom of speech will be taken away too. There will be a major problem if people hear that their guns are being banned they will not give up their weapons very easily if at all. Guns may be a part of a negative way of life but most people do not have guns to kill other people but they have them to kill animals and to protect themselves against people with negative

In the book Farenheit 451 we saw that strict rules made people do illegal things. People were not allowed to own books but they still did read and own them. People were even willing to die for that cause. Even the people who were supposed to enforce those rules broke them. If guns or assault rifles are banned people will not quit owning or using them. Also if guns or assault rifles are banned sales of ammo, magazines, reloading supplies and the guns themselves will skyrocket. Within the last year sales of assault rifles, ammo, and magazines have soared so much the manufacturers can’t keep up and have created waiting lists.…

There is this massive debate on whether or not the U.S should carry gun laws. In my perspective, I believe that we should not allow guns, but I know many people would disagree. If we banned guns, it would limit the violence in our country. The news would stop saying so and so people dead. Everyone, including children and adults, would be safe and happy knowing that no gun would harm them.…

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” -The Second Amendment. Our government of the United States of America is wanting to take our right to bear Arms away from us. Does the government have the right to do this? “Gun Control is designed to stop people from killing each other, at least that’s what we were always told” ( King par. 3) . Our government wants to ban the use of guns just to decrease the number of killings. Are guns really our problem here or is it just the society today?…

There is a big controversy about whether or not to have control over guns. One side of the controversy is that no citizen is allowed to have a gun in the house hold, only allowing the Army, Cops, and anyone with that power over the country. You also have the other side that the citizens are on, where many of the citizens use firearms for hunting, safety, and many other things. How could we take away firearms when so many people have and use them, “In the United States every 100 people 88.8% have firearms.” (ProCon.org “Gun Control ProCon.org”,1) The main reason the government is thinking to have gun control, is to decrease the lives that are getting taken away by these powerful tools that we use to have fun. Many people…

The banning of firearms in America is an illegal act, and degrades the values this country was founded on. They not only play a vital role in many people's lives, but are useful tools, fun to use, and can protect people from harm. Our founding fathers wanted us to have them to protect ourselves from the government, and would be disgusted at our government's current abuse, and overall disregard of the constitution of the United States. A lot of people argue that guns kill people; this is untrue. Guns in the hands of a negligent person have potential to kill people, just as anything else.…

Laws having to do with gun control should have stricter regulations and require more in-depth background checks before anyone is allowed to purchase a fire arm. Gun control has been a major debate for a very long time now. It started hundreds of years ago in different parts of the world and continues today. Though there are always two sides to an argument, I firmly believe that being pro-gun control is important.…

Guns do a lot of bad, but do a lot more good for society. Banning guns will not stop the problem, but will just make it worse. Guns are apart of our society as Americans they have been around since colonial years, and are not leaving anytime soon. “The number of guns in America has increased by more than 50 percent since 1993, and in that same period the gun homicide rate in the United States has dropped by half. (Kristof, The Times).” Guns offer protection for individuals. One day you could be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and a shooting breaks out, you will pray there is someone else there with a concealed firearm to help control the situation while waiting for police to arrive. They can’t do that if guns are banned. “We need to understand that we cannot stop crimes and murders. And banning guns would be a step, or two, backwards instead of moving forward in the right direction (The Times News).” The research conducted to produce this paper was drawn from a multitude of sources all with different…

Today, we are living in a world where one moment you are laughing, and in a blink of an eye you wind up either dead or in the hospital due to random gun violence. US leads amongst all the developed nations in mass murder due to gun violence and gun abuse. Between 1976 and 2012, most high-income countries did not experience a single shooting. The U.S. witnessed 16 shootings involving 7 or more fatalities, resulting in 241 deaths, more than all the other developed countries combined.…

Gun violence is a serious issue, but is taking away guns going to solve it? I think it will not for three main reasons: Laws only affect law abiding citizens, other countries have tried this (it doesn’t work), and that it would be almost impossible to enforce. To start things off, making laws to ban guns will not stop people from getting them. People will buy the guns in question on the black market. The Trans Border Institute estimates that over 250,000 guns are illegally imported into the U.S. and sold on the black market in one year.…

The problem being crimes committed using fire arms. What the Government fails to recognize is that criminals do not abide by the laws, taking weapons away from law abiding citizen will only give the criminals more means to do harm. There is a law against braking and entering but criminals still do it. There is a Law against stealing, yet criminals still continue to steal. So what will taking guns away from Law abiding citizens do? Absolutely nothing other than make citizens more vulnerable to the criminals. While a study was found between 1980 and 2009, shows the States with restrictions on carrying concealed fire arms had higher gun-related murders(ProCon #2). This will also be the first and only Law that amplifies the problem rather than helping. If criminals want to have guns they will find a way to get them. Taking away legally owned guns does not get rid of the illegally owned guns. The Gun Control Law will give criminals the upper hand, they will be more likely to shoot innocent people to get why they want, expectably know there will not be bullet fired back at them. The reason Gun control has not affect on murders is because the killing is not being done people with legally owned…

All guns have the potential to be dangerous and should be handled with care. Guns have been part of American life for as long as people can remember. For most people guns are perceived as very dangerous and harmful. However, that is not true; guns can be dangerous, but only if they are in the wrong hands. Owning a gun is right that every American should be able to take pride in having. Guns are used for self-defense, hunting, law enforcement and other uses. The right to own a gun is protected in the 2nd constitutional amendment. Therefore, banning guns from being owned or purchased is wrong and unconstitutional.…
