Some Catholics decided to come up with the plot , to blow up parliament. There aim was to kill the king & all important people who were Protestant .the plot didn 't succeed. In this assessment I will explain what really happened .

Traditional story
The traditional story of the gunpowder plot .
James 1 upset many Catholics by forcing them to attend Anglican church services.
Some catholics decided to take revenge on the king .
The leader of the plot was Robert Catesby. The plan was to blow up the house of lords on the opening day of parliament .
The plotters managed to rent an area directly under the house of lords.
Gunpowder was shipped in the middle of the night. A letter was sent to lord mounteagle warning him of the plot. Lord mounteagle immediately took the letter to the king. The king and his advisers quickly worked out what wa going on - and set a trap. On the 5th november , guy Gaels was waiting with the gunpowder. Around midnight the government struck - and guy Gaels was arrested. Guy fawks was tortured. At first he refused to break his oath of silence, but he eventually did. The conspirators were all found guilty of high treason. They were sentenced to be hanged, drawn and quartered. The other conspirators were soon captured or killed . Links: to the midlands Many of the plotters had strong links to the midlands. For instance, the leader of the group Robert Catesby his mums house was Ashby St Ledgers , this house was the focus for the hunting party , which was to become the rising in the midlands. Clopton was rented from lord Carew by abrose Rookwood, for a base in the midlands. In warwick , they broke into warwick castle to get new horses this is where they started to get followed by Sir Richard walsh, sheriff of warwickshire.in norbrook they met rookwood and grant ,Rookwood was to provide the horse for the rising.in dunchurch , if the plot went well this is where they would have set out to seize princess Elizabeth . Coughton Court , is where the plotters asked Father Garnet to join but he refused because of the consequences, Father Tesimond joined the plotters. Lady Digby sent fresh horses out to the plotters. The plotters took mass in a secret room .Hewell Grange was home to lord Windsor, the brother of John talbot .They went to his house to get weapons and gunpowder.Hagley hall was refuge to the winters before their capture , which is on the A 491.Hudington was Robert winters house , this is where thomas winter , bates and father tesimond joined the band .Holbech house was home to stephen stephen littleton , this was the house where the band was caught and the plot came to a close . An alternative version of plot James 1 upset many Catholics by forcing them to attend Anglican church services , robert cecil didnt like catholics so he thought that it would be a good time to make the catholics look even worse. The leader of the plot was Robert Catesby(secertly robert cecil). The plan was to get innocent catholics getting caught blowing up the house of lords on the opening day of parliament , the reason behind this was so that the catholics cannot be trusted. Robert cecil told his close friend and royal offical john whyynniard to rent the cellar to Thomas percy who was a discontented catholic and been watched by goverment spies for over a year and knew he was a dangerous man and hostle to the king . All gunpowder in the country was controlled by the goverment and the offical in charge of the gunpowder was robert cecil . Robert cecil gave the gunpowder to them in the tower of london , then destroyed the gunpowder records so he wouldnt get caught . A letter was sent to lord mounteagle warning him of the plot sent by robert cecil at his home , lord mounteagle would be at his home that one night in the year , robert cecil saw him go home and knew he would be there and definatly got the letter . the letter was delivered in a disguised mask so that nobody knew it was him, he sent it to lord mounteagle so it didnt look like he had anything to do with the plot , so no one gets suspicous, and also he sent it to lord mounteagle because he was previously a catholic and was fined lots of money , so he wants to prove to the king he can be a good protestant .Lord mounteagle immediately took the letter to Robert cecil, because he did not understand the letter and didnt want to look stupid infront of the king. Robert cecil waited 8 days to act on the letter , he waited until the last moment because then he knew that guy fawks would be waiting to set fire to all the gunpowder . robert cecil that morning klilled john whyniard , so he didnt tell anyone that he was behind all of this. The king and the government struck - and guy Fawks was arrested and he was tortured. At first he refused to break his oath of silence, but he eventually did.when the plotters found out that guy fawks was caught they headed to the midlands.Robert cecil was head of the spies and he had spies spying on the plotters so they knew where they were , so the goverment were able to catch and surrond the plotters very quickly at holbeach house. Some of the plotters when they were caught were shoot dead , so they didnt say anything about robert cecil .One of the plotters , Francis tresham ,wasnt arrested with the others .When they were in court there origanal confessions were not shown , cecil had new ones made or either lord mounteagles name was smuged of pasted out . No witnesses were called out . The rest of the plotters were sentenced to be hanged, drawn and quartered. The other conspirators were soon captured or killed . They were taken to the tower of London.

However, by 1581, Elizabeth’s policy towards Catholics had changed: Now, any priest holding a Catholic service, and anyone attending it, would pay a large fine and be imprisoned for a year; fines for recusancy were increased to £20 a month and anyone who tried to persuade people to disobey Elizabeth or become a Catholic was guilty of treason. She had changed her policy for several reasons: A number of rebellions, set off by the Catholic, Mary Queen of Scots arrival in England; The St Bartholomew’s Day Massacre and the arrival of Catholic priests in England.…

The Scalar Principle states “authority and responsibility should flow in a direct line vertically from the highest level of the organization to the lowest level” (Starling, p. 300). It can also be identified as the “chain of command”. In most work settings, utilizing the scalar principle is highly emphasized, especially in a military setting because it establishes an organized environment and different levels of authority within individuals. For example, requesting leave of absence can be approved by the first line supervisor because they are directly involved with daily operations. It is highly frowned upon skipping a member of the chain of command because many times issues can be dealt with at a lower level. At the same time, in situations…

The second suspect I think was guilty was Henry II. In a way, everyone is involved as Becket did make the king angry. When Henry got tipped over the edge, he said "who will rid me of this troublesome priest?" and while this was being said , the knights were outside the door, listening to his ideas and decided to do exactly what the king had said. I don't think Henry meant it that way as the knights who killed Becket did. Once Thomas was killed, the king said he didn't mean that he should actually be killed and then the day after his death, apparently he walked around the Cathedral whipping his back to say sorry to Thomas.…

The conflict that started the glorious revolution started when England was ruled by James the second. England had many problems with two existing religions, the Catholics and the Protestants. King James the second was a catholic ruler and he vowed to restore England to Catholicism. He also persecuted the Protestants and also appointed Catholics to major job positions in the armed forces although it was strictly forbidden. (Burchill) He refused the parliament’s request and broke the laws the parliament passed out. He also created the declaration of indulgence witch cancelled laws that were against Catholics; he then kept spending money without the permission of the parliament. (Rayment) It raised many conflicts between the king and the parliament, the parliament was trying to figure out a way to replace the king with a Protestant ruler because he deliberately disobeyed the parliament and basically took control of…

On the night of the massacre the mob of armed people were protesting in King Street and about one hundred people start to head towards the Custom house where the king kept his money. Captain Preston the commander of the British troops during the Massacre stated," After I reached the guard, about one hundred people passed it and went towards the Custom house where the king's money is lodged." This brought imminent danger to the British because one hundred armed Patriots were in front of the place where the king keeps all of his money. The Soldiers just wanted to do their job by keeping the Patriots in order and keeping the King's money safe without hurting anybody. Another quote that supports that the Soldiers were just doing their job was in Richard Palmer's account and it states,” When I had got there I saw Capt. Preston at the head of 7 or 8 Soldiers at the Custom house drawn up, their Guns breast high and Bayonets fixed.” This also shows that the Soldiers just wanted to do their job by protecting the King’s money that was in the Custom house. They also had their bayonets fixed in front of the house which means their guns were up held high and not ready to fire. Both of the evidence from the testimonies show that the Soldiers just wanted to do their job by protecting the King’s money and not injuring anybody.…

This investigation assesses the causes of the Boston Massacre in 1770, and which of the said causes had the biggest impact on the occurrence of the Massacre. To understand the causes of this Massacre, research had to be done to investigate how the presence of British soldiers, the Sugar, Stamp, Quartering, and Townshed Acts, the acts of the colonists, and the lack of representation of the colonists lead to the Boston Massacre. The main method for gathering information was from either book or Internet sources. The most used of these sources were the book The Boston Massacre by Robert J. Allison[1], and the book The Boston Massacre by Hiller B. Zobel.[2] Both of these sources will be evaluated in section C.…
