Guns in School
There should be no guns in class room. Because it may cause more violence in the school and cause more school shootings. Kids may find the gun and use it against others. Also some younger kids may feel threatened with a gun in the class room. However assuming that any teacher and kid would not go on a killing spree yes it could be a good idea, but considering most school shooting are caused by children/teens it is not a logic idea. We do not need more guns in schools I personally think that we need less guns in schools these days. There is no valid reason for there to be guns in schools unless it is owned by a police officer. Guns in schools lead to negative things and it should not happen. Say you have a fresh-faced, doe-eyed new teacher, 22 years old and starting their first day as a teacher. Now you've handed them a firearm and tell them that they have to have this gun with them at all times. Now the teacher might have a background with guns and be OK with that, but maybe they don't. Perhaps they're one of these 'pansy liberals' that get so much flack in the circles that think they should be armed. Well this teacher now has to make a decision, should they carry a gun on themselves and be forced to keep the student at arms length, thus hampering the learning environment, or should they simply let a multitude of kids get right up against the weapon? Well obviously we shouldn't be giving kids the opportunity to get at the weapon, and we don't want to hamper the learning experience, so let's give the teacher a gun safe to put it in. Now a few months pass and this safe is opened once or twice to check on the gun, because after all gun violence is still very minimal in the US despite what people on FB might shout. However this safe has to be readily available so that the teacher can get to it in times of emergency, but that means it's also readily available to curious and mischievous kids too. A kid will find a way to get into any locked compartment if they are

Lopez was definitely in the wrong in bringing a gun to school, but it should have been up to the state to punish him and Congress should not have gotten involved. I too think that this case kept or court system in check too. If the Court had agreed with Congress then I believe it would have increased Congress’s power. This case showed that Congress could not get away with saying it fit effected the interstate commerce.…

Arming teachers will also increase the operating cost of school districts that are already short on funding. We hear each year that schools are being forced to cut back programs for the students or the salary of teachers. By arming teachers we would add to that cost by requiring firearm training for those that are authorized to carry a firearm. Additionally will the school district use their own range as law enforcement does? Who will have the qualifications to operate this range? If teachers don’t have their own range there will still be added costs to use a range to train or qualify teachers and staff. Adding more costs to school budgets will only decrease the level of education that children receive by cutting educational things out to make room for arming teachers.…

Throughout its history, the United States has had a fascination with guns. Americans have used guns in times of war, for protection, and for hunting. Americans also use guns when they are intent on killing people. When violence happens in school shootings, drive-by shootings, assassination of public officials, or in the workplace and shopping malls, Americans demand something be done. This demand fuels the debate between gun rights and gun control activists. It fuels the debate over the interpretation of the Second Amendment. It fuels the debate on allowing citizens to carry concealed weapons in gun-free zones. This makes us ask the question: Should guns be banned from college campuses? Two recent college campus massacres have triggered a renewed interest in this debate. On the morning of April 16, 2007, a deeply troubled young man named Seung Hui Cho used two pistols to murder thirty-two students and faculty members, as well as killing himself, at Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, Virginia (Feldman 284). The second incident happened on February 14, 2008 at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois. The twenty-seven year old gunman, Steven Kazmierczak, walked into a lecture hall with three handguns and a shotgun and fired fifty-four rounds from the weapons. He fatally shot five students and himself and wounded sixteen others (Goldman). These two incidents have brought the gun control vs. the gun rights debate back to the college campuses. The heart of the debate focuses on whether allowing concealed weapons in a college classroom setting can save lives if a similar catastrophe happens again. Activists across the United States are joining forces to make their voices heard. One such group, Students for…

Having guns on campus would not be a very healthy learning environment. When students sit in a classroom, they should not have the fear of one of their classmates pulling out a gun. If students are too busy thinking about guns being on campus, it could distract them from actually working. This issue might even extend to not wanting to go to school because they feel unsafe and uncomfortable. Also not a very healthy teaching environment for teachers. The teachers might be scared that a student would pull a gun out on him or her…

One thing that has been happening in schools is open fire, killing and wounding others weather that is the teachers or students. Tragedies like these are some of our worst fears no one would ever want to be stuck in the middle of a school shooting. So let's stop this from happening with giving teacher the rights to carry concealed weapons. The reasons we are going to let this is happen is because teachers will be prepared for an incident to happen, some people live to far away and it would take a long time before the police get there, students are going to feel more safe knowing that their teachers are armed.…

After various shootings in schools and colleges, gun control laws have been a debate all over the country and all over the news. However, many state legislatures have already decided to obligate colleges and universities to allow “concealed carry”. While on one side laws are being passed to keep guns away from the public, on the other side, guns are being permitted in college campuses. Allowing people to carry guns in college campuses is not the way to keep students, faculty, and staff safe, because the students will have to face additional risks, a healthy learning environment is at stake, and citizens allowed a conceal carry permit aren’t always righteous.…

Imagine a student or instructor being allowed to bring a gun to campus. Imagine what would happen if that student or instructor were having a bad day or had a major disagreement with someone. The possibility that something disastrous could happen is quite real. Measures should be enacted that address such a situation. By banning guns on campuses, tragedies can be prevented. Guns should not be allowed on college campuses because they will increase violence, raise the number of accidental shootings, and create a mood of fear on campuses.…

This paper will determine whether guns have a place on college, and school campuses. The conclusion that the paper reaches is that students who have guns will be tempted to use them, especially at universities and colleges that are full of drug use, stress, and anxiety. The mixture of guns into a formula like that is simply not conducive to a safe environment. This paper will take evidence from experts, as well as state rulings to show the two sides of gun control in regards to school campuses in order to answer the question: Should guns be allowed on college campuses?…

In the article, “Texas Lawmakers Pass a Bill Allowing Guns at Colleges”, written by Manny Fernandez and Dave Montgomery, from the The New York Times, the author discuss about whether guns should be allowed on campus. In the article, they talk about two opposing sides, where one side supports the campus carry law and the other disagrees with the campus carry law. State representative Jonathan Stickland said, “An armed society is a safe society, so any time you have gun control, there is far more opportunity to become victims”. While there is another side where they do not support the campus carry law. An admiral named William H. McRaven said, “I have all sorts of guns. I just don’t think bringing guns on campus is going to make us any safer.” Texas lawmakers made an egregious mistake when they passed a law, allowing guns on college campuses.…

After the tragedies that took place at Sandy Hook Elementary School, guns have no place in our nation’s schools. allowing college professors to possess guns on campus will only lead to more gun deaths and injuries, not less. Federal and state laws that prohibit guns at schools and pose harsh penalties for gun possession, in contrast, help keep our children and educators safe. College and Universities are generally safe havens from gun violence.…

“Bang bang you’re dead,” was a common saying when playing cops and robbers as a young kid. The recent string of shootings on college campuses has people and states looking at passing a law making it legal to carry a gun on college campuses. The people trying to get the law passed say that letting someone carry a concealed weapon will allow the weapon carrier to protect themselves if a shooter comes to their campus. Those against allowing a person to carry a gun on campus want to protect people from gun accidents. Guns on campus would definitely make me think twice about doing violence on a college campus. It should be legal to carry a gun on campus.…
