He earns the honor of being special teams captain, but he’s still hungry for more. But the week before the district championship game, the guy above him and the starting quarterback get caught with a six-pack and are suspended for the rest of the year. Mick and his friend and quarterback Drew finally get their chance, but Mick comes up a foot short on the last drive of the game by number 50, Foothill’s middle linebacker. Now he’s even more determined to be the best. His dad’s company soon takes over ownership of a local gym, Popeye’s. He signs Mick up with a trainer, Peter Volz. Mick takes Drew with him the first time, and they feel as if the gym itself is good, but the trainer might be a little off. Drew ditches after that time, but Mick decides to give it another shot.
He gets a taste of what being strong feels like, and wants more. He talks to Peter about his vitamin pills and protein shakes, and Peter says those are good, but if he wants to see gains, he’ll have to take ‘Gym Candy.’ The first steroid he puts Mick is D-bol, and it sends Mick into a new level of athleticism. His personal lifting bests skyrocket and his speed severely increases. He walks onto the football field and blows everyone else away.
