(-- removed HTML --) How it works,/h3> (-- removed HTML --) The military diet, also know as the Army Diet, the Navy Diet and the 3 Day Diet, is centered around a two phase plan of three days on and four days off. For three days, dieters much adhere to a very low calorie diet. During the first three days of the meal plan dieters consume between 1.100 and 1,400 calories per day. No snacking is allowed during this time. For thsoe who want to lose more weight, the diet can be repeated over and over again until the desired results are achieved (-- removed HTML --) (-- removed HTML --) Four Days Off (-- removed HTML --) (-- removed HTML --) After completing the first three days of the diet, dieters are allowed four days off. This is where things can get confusing. While the diet does mention eating items such as hot dogs and ice cream, upon closer inspection you'll see that it's recommended that you continue eating low calorie meals. Therefore, it's not really a three day on, four day off diet, the four days off just allow followers to consume more calories. Anytime that calories are cut for an extended period of time a person loses weight. The body burns fat during this time, which helps the pounds melt off. However, if during the four days off a person eats a lot of high fat, high calorie foods and foods loaded with sugar, weight desired weight loss won't happen. In order to lose the ten pounds per week, one has to adhere to the low calorie plan throughout the entire week. It can be difficult to stick with a diet that allows for so few calories. Dieters have to be careful not to overcompensate for the caloric restrictions after the first three days. (-- removed HTML

    Medifast claims to be a low calorie, low fat diet that many people have joined. The plan is based around high protein shakes, bars and soups. The most popular choice is the 5 and 1, which consists of 5 Medifast meals and 1 “lean and green” meal. The caloric intake claims to be somewhere between 800 and 1,000 calories per day; however, when I entered a daily diet sample into the Diet Analysis program, I found a significant difference. The sample recommended a Medifast ready to drink Dutch chocolate shake for breakfast. Mid morning, a suggestion of Medifast scrambled eggs with a dash of parsley. Lunch was the first half of the lean and green meal, suggesting six ounces of roasted turkey with one cup of steamed mustard greens topped with one teaspoon of olive oil and salt and pepper to taste. The mid afternoon snack was a Medifast strawberry creme shake blended with ice and water. The remaining portion of the lean and green meal was suggested for dinner and included Medifast’s cream of broccoli soup with one-half cup steamed broccoli added for texture. A night snack of a vanilla shake was also shown. Using the dietary recommendations in the dietary analysis program for me, this sample meal plan only provided me with 54% of the calorie intake, or 773.24 kcalories. With a RDI of a minimum of 1200 kcals, this diet is insufficient in meeting metabolic goals, thus requiring supplements to enhance metabolism. Also, the carbohydrate requirements were 54.98 g, when I have a recommendation of 160-231 g per day. The fat requirement of 32-55 g per day were also not met, only providing 17.85 g.     The diet I chose to look at was the 4 Hour Body Diet by Timothy Ferriss. Ferriss is also the author of the #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER The 4-Hour Workweek. More recently, he wrote the upcoming release of The 4 Hour Chef that is being banned from bookstores nationwide. I stumbled upon this book one day when I was browsing the internet for new and interesting ways to lose weight and Ferriss’s book caught my eye. Just reading the first page enticed me to read more. I picked up the book and just reading the first page made me laugh “how to lose 20 pounds in 30 days (without exercise) on the uber simple Slow- Carb diet. At this point I just had to buy the book to see what crazy fad diet had just befallen me. when I got home the first page alone was disturbing Tim was describing how he just consumed almost two full-size barbecue chicken pizzas and three handfuls of mixed nuts, for a cumulative total of about 4,400 calories. That was only his fourth meal of the day breakfast having consisted of two glasses of grapefruit juice, a large cup of coffee with cinnamon, two chocolate croissants, and two bear claws. only 72 hours later testing his progress with an ultrasound analyzer his body fat had dropped from 11.9% to 10.2% in only 14 days.     The problem I saw right from start is the oversupply of fast food restaurants in the US. In Germany I would probably limit my fast food consume to once every two or three weeks because we do not have that many franchise restaurant.
