Around 1 to 2 a.m. all of the girls were starting to fall asleep, but my best friend, Mia, was not sleepy at all. I was dozing off slightly, but not to the point that I would completely crash out. We started to talk silently hoping not to bother or disturb any of the other girls sleeping. Since it was close to Halloween, we came up with a devilish idea. Our plan was to scare all the girls with …show more content…
some pretty terrifying masks that Mia had from Halloween years from the past. We went downstairs to discuss furthermore into the plan and how to pull it off successfully.
As we were downstairs, we could hear the trees leaves, brushing against the side of the house as the wind got stronger. It started to drizzle ever so slightly and gradually increased over time. We had no clue that it was going to rain that night and thought this would be the perfect setting for the scare that was bound to take place. A few minutes passed by and we were in the process of getting everything set up in place. As that was happening, a gigantic roar of thunder shook the windows slightly. Both of us checked the window to see how the conditions were outside. Tons of rain was pouring down, and streets gradually started flooding by the minute.
Her lights started flickering from the wind and rain and we were uncertain for what was to happen next. We never flickering lights would scare us, but since it was close to midnight, it surprisingly did.
We took a break hoping for the rain and wind to settle down. To our luck it did, but only for about 5 to 6 minutes. To get our minds off the rain, we sat and watched funny youtube videos. It was working until, the power had finally seized off. A silence followed throughout the room as the air conditioning noise shut off and all electronics went silent as they powered down as well. We both panicked as we got up and turned on our phones flashlight. We looked around with fear in our eyes for about a few seconds then finally calmed down as we realized what had happened.
Rain and wind was the only noise that can be heard from a distance in the house, as well as the combination of thunder.
We sat in the living room staring into darkness, drifting into our thoughts. We patiently waited for the lights to come back on. As we waited and waited, an unpleasantly tapping disturbed our train of thought. We both looked at each other and started shaking slightly. We stayed silent, but in my mind I was shrieking in horror. I looked towards the direction of the window and swore I saw a shadow lurking. It could have been my imagination, but my friend had claimed to see it as well.
The only part I saw of this mysterious shadow was the hand tapping on the window. Mia had claimed to see different, but she did see something tapping on the window. We got off the couch and started running back to the stairs. We watched the window from a distance to see if any unusual things would happen again. To our thought, nothing had happened and I started to feel a sense of relief come over me, until a very loud noise almost like something shattering on the floor rang across the room.
We ran back upstairs and locked the door, making sure nothing was following us, or nothing would come in. We sat on the bed reminiscing the horrifying event that took place over and over again until I started to get sleepy. I finally fell asleep right after Mia had
did.
The next morning, both of us had woken up late to the point where all of the girls had gone home. We went downstairs and checked to see if anything had happened. To my surprise, nothing had been shattered or broken except one thing. Her brothers’ and sisters’ picture was not broken, nor was her parents. But a picture of her with her grandpa who had sadly passed a year ago was.
