Halloween Descriptive Writing
It was a cold and windy night in the midst of October last year, and I was at my best friends’ house because she was hosting a little sleepover with a few friends. We had just finished watching some scary movies one after the other. She showed some frightening ones and some not so frightening, but they would give a hair-raising chill here and there.
Around 1 to 2 a.m. all of the girls were starting to fall asleep, but my best friend, Mia, was not sleepy at all. I was dozing off slightly, but not to the point that I would completely crash out. We started to talk silently hoping not to bother or disturb any of the other girls sleeping. Since it was close to Halloween, we came up with a devilish idea. Our plan was to scare all the girls with

We sat in the living room staring into darkness, drifting into our thoughts. We patiently waited for the lights to come back on. As we waited and waited, an unpleasantly tapping disturbed our train of thought. We both looked at each other and started shaking slightly. We stayed silent, but in my mind I was shrieking in horror. I looked towards the direction of the window and swore I saw a shadow lurking. It could have been my imagination, but my friend had claimed to see it as well.
The only part I saw of this mysterious shadow was the hand tapping on the window. Mia had claimed to see different, but she did see something tapping on the window. We got off the couch and started running back to the stairs. We watched the window from a distance to see if any unusual things would happen again. To our thought, nothing had happened and I started to feel a sense of relief come over me, until a very loud noise almost like something shattering on the floor rang across the room.
We ran back upstairs and locked the door, making sure nothing was following us, or nothing would come in. We sat on the bed reminiscing the horrifying event that took place over and over again until I started to get sleepy. I finally fell asleep right after Mia had

The last thing I remember is falling asleep during a late night rerun of the Twilight Zone. So when it happened, it was especially eerie, like I had stepped into a lost episode, but Rod Serling was nowhere in sight; for moment, neither was anybody else. At 4:31 AM a merciless shove pushed me off my bed. I crawled on the floor, trying to escape the cruel, uncontrollable shaking, but it followed me. It followed me down the stairs and underneath the dining room table where my family joined me. Little did I realize that before the morning sun rose again, I would see everything differently.…

The night was cold and quiet as if the whole city block went to sleep. With nothing but silent raindrops and distant voices, I wake up from my four hour slumber and looked at the time. Glancing at the clock on my computer, the numbers on the screen clearly says 12:20 pm. “Yeah, today is Halloween,” I think to myself sarcastically. Suddenly, I hear a loud rumble, like the earth was being shaken for a firm moment.…
