Halloween-Personal Narrative
In my English 102 class, my professor inquired us to write a story concerning Halloween. When being asked this question, a story popped into my head about the time Halloween was ruined for me. Halloween has always been my favorite holiday when I think back to my childhood. Halloween makes me think of a lot of great memories, hayrides, trick-or-treating, and dressing up. As a child, I loved the feeling of being able to dress up and get candy, but that has been distorted. As a child, I have always had a fear of clown, no it was more of a phobia. My fear started when I walked in on my older cousins watching the movie Stephen King’s movie, It. I did not watch the whole movie but I remember specifically what scene it was that initiated my phobia. …show more content…
My family has a tradition of getting together every year for Halloween, we hang out, trick-or-treat with the kids, and just have loads of fun. Since I am too old to go trick-or-treat, I enjoy handing out candy to the little kids, but when I hand out candy I have at least one person outside with me to take over when I see clowns or that person will warn me so I can go inside. That year, everything is going great, I am handing out candy while I have my aunt outside with me to warn me. They had at least one or two clowns show up that night so I had already run inside a couple times. Then from a distance, I saw a clown coming towards the house, it was not a little kid, the clown was about the size of a teenager. I started to panic so I told my aunt to take over the candy station while I ran inside. Before my foot even stepped into the base of the door, Mr. Sandy had yelled at the clown, “hey she is terrified of clowns, why don’t you mess with her” and locked the door so I could not get in the house. The clown started running towards me, so I started to run away but the clown chased me. I hid in the bushes so he couldn’t find me, so the clown got bored and finally

The term 'gender' refers to the social construction of female and male identity and what better way to see gender in our society than Halloween season. Halloween is one of the favorite times of the year for kids and younger adults. Everyone goes shopping together and everyone is excited to be batman or Chucky's bride this year. When shopping people are not really paying attention to how the costumes are presented for the customers eyes. They are just there excited to get their costume! I went to Walmart to analyze how costumes are presented. Even in the small selection of costumes at Walmart there were still plenty of ways of how male vs female costumes are sold. Between the way costumes are packaged, the costumes that are aimed for men or…

    Fear Of Clowns

I have developed an irrational fear of being killed by clowns due to the way movies and music often portray them for the teen and adult audience. I established this fear around the age of twelve when I first watched Stephen King's IT, a horror movie. In the story, an evil clown by the name of Pennywise tries to kill a group of seven teenagers. After being overpowered by the kids, he returns thirty years later to accomplish what he could not many years earlier. I placed myself in the shoes of those seven kids and had horrifying dreams of a white-faced, red nosed clown chasing me through the sewer, only to brutally kill me. This fear intensified after seeing an evil clown doll in the movie Poltergeist by Steven Spielberg. The clown doll, which innocently sat with his malevolent smile on the rocker in the children's bedroom, came to life. It grew long arms to reach out to grasp the young boy from under the bed and strangle him. I fear that, just as in the movie, the small clown doll with an ominous stare that sits on my shelf could come alive and kill me by means of strangling. More than the movies, the extremely vulgar lyrics of the rap group Insane Clown Posse send chills up my spine. They wear face paints to resemble clowns. The group uses their lyrics to convey hatred and fear to the listeners. They sing of mass slaughter and actions only to be approved by the devil himself. Lyrics like, "You fall asleep and wake up dead; With a broken broom sticking out of your forehead; I sing you lullabies till you dose off; Tie you down and bite your F****** toes off; And spit "em out back in your face; Splat! F*** wash your feet B****!" are just some of the less raunchy words they sing. After hearing that these "so-called clowns" want to split my face in two with an axe, I begin to stereotype all clowns as evil killers. After all, who knows what could be hiding behind the happy painted faces, colorful costumes, and the big red…

This person was not scared of them at all and found that all clowns, that they had seen were very colorful had big feet and funny hair.…

On October 27, I had driver’s education until six o’clock. I figured that because I was already at Stevenson, I should just stay for Haunted High. I could use it for a cultural event or extra credit and I knew of a few friends who were attending. I have absolutely no idea why I possibly thought this could end in such a way that I wasn’t completely terrified. I hate horror movies, haunted houses, and generally anything scary. Prior to Haunted High, I had only seen one horror movie, House at the End of the Street, and I only agreed to watch it if my cousin told me exactly what was going to happen and when. Anytime I hear a scary story I will spend the next week or two terrified that whatever it was about would come and kill, hurt, or haunt me.…
