in our outcome of being in a growth mindset. Grit relates to sticking with something until it is
achieved. Like a bad test grade. When I get a bad test grade I keep trying and I study harder each
time to get a passing grade. It's similar to having a growth mindset. It can also bring out the inner
strength that we never knew that we had. When we reach a breaking point having that inner

In Emily Hanford’s article “Angela Duckworth and the Research on Grit” states the
meaning of being gritty. Being gritty is “sticking with things over the very long term until you
master them.” Pg.46. In other words, Handford was expressing how being gritty is staying with
the same thing until it is solved. I always wanted a pet. After my hamster died, I had a hard time
accepting the fact that she’s gone. I didn't try to avoid the problem because I knew it wasn't
healthy for me so I sticked with it until I finally overcome it and faced the fact that my hamster is
gone. That really made me grow as a person and made me more stronger than before because I
would never thought that I would be able to handle that kind of situation. This shows me being
gritty to succeed because I was determined to to try to go through a tough time in my life without
forcing it out.
