Hawthorne Elementary School Mission Statement
Hawthorne Avenue Elementary School is located in Newark, New Jersey. The address of Hawthorne Ave is 428 Hawthorne Ave. Their mission statement is “ “The single greatest effect on student achievement is not a race, not poverty; it is the effectiveness of the teachers.” Therefore, the administration, teachers, staff, and parents of Hawthorne Avenue School are committed to providing a stimulating, structured, and safe learning environment that ensures the delivery of high- quality instruction with hands- on and technological orientation across the curriculum. Our implementation of research- based, best instructional practices will maximize individual student academic potential and will ensure that students of all ability levels are well equipped to meet the challenges of education, work, and social life in the upcoming academic years.” When walking the halls of Hawthorne Ave Elementary school you will see their vision statement.

There vision statement say “ the vision of Hawthorne Avenue School is that the administration, teachers, and staff will provide a high - quality education to all students, that inspires them to embrace high academic achievement, and develops sound moral- ethics values that propel them into a future of productivity, responsibility, and “Excellence Without Exception.” Hawthorne Ave School started at 8:05 am and ends 3:25 pm. They wear a uniform every day. Their uniform consists of khaki pants or skirts and a navy blue shirt. However, on gym days they went navy blue sweat pants and a white - t-shirt with sneakers. Every night students are required to receive homework. With them receiving homework, they are also required to read at least 20 minutes on a daily basis. Their common core shifts from ELA / Literacy and math. In the ELA/ Literacy consists of three components. The first components are building knowledge throughout content- rich non-fiction. The second components are reading, writing, and speaking grounded in evidence from the test. Both literary and informational. The last step is regulated practice ( daily)
