There vision statement say “ the vision of Hawthorne Avenue School is that the administration, teachers, and staff will provide a high - quality education to all students, that inspires them to embrace high academic achievement, and develops sound moral- ethics values that propel them into a future of productivity, responsibility, and “Excellence Without Exception.” Hawthorne Ave School started at 8:05 am and ends 3:25 pm. They wear a uniform every day. Their uniform consists of khaki pants or skirts and a navy blue shirt. However, on gym days they went navy blue sweat pants and a white - t-shirt with sneakers. Every night students are required to receive homework. With them receiving homework, they are also required to read at least 20 minutes on a daily basis. Their common core shifts from ELA / Literacy and math. In the ELA/ Literacy consists of three components. The first components are building knowledge throughout content- rich non-fiction. The second components are reading, writing, and speaking grounded in evidence from the test. Both literary and informational. The last step is regulated practice ( daily)
