are doctors who deal specifically with the medical needs and conditions of babies, young children and teenagers. Within the paediatric profession there are many different specialists such as a general paediatrician who will diagnose and treat a number of conditions, as well tracking the development of their patients. Another Paediatric role is the paediatric cardiologists who mainly deal with heart disease and other heart related conditions.
A paediatrician may refer their patients to other professionals depending on the nature of the individuals’ problems.
For example... they may be dealing with a child who has a terminal illness such as cancer and may refer them to agencies such as Macmillan’s. Paediatricians have to complete an internship and residency in order to become a paediatrician, it is essential to complete a degree at a four year college and then to earn a medical school degree, they must then complete a further six years of training after they complete their medical degree. A paediatrician may work as part of a hospital, group practice or see patients on his or her own. Paediatricians may also open up their own private practices to see …show more content…

Confidentiality is information kept about a person that people can not access except the teachers and staff in the unit or multi agenys teams if necessary. Information about a child or parent such as name, address, and medical information should be kept in a safe place where just the people that need to access it can, such as in a filing cabinet locked with a key or on a computer with a password. Each child care setting will have policies and procedures because of the Data Protection Act 1998. The staff within the setting should understand the policy which says “staffs will not discus the individual children, other than for purposes of curriculum planning/group management, with people other than the parent/carers of the child”. Discussing information about children with people other than the parent or member of staff goes against the data protection act and could result in losing their jobs and hurting other staff or the parents of the child they have discussed. www.jackinthebox.org.uk
A1.the importance of trust is so the children can talk to you if they have any problems and they can feel comfortable. As a professional I must never promise to keep a secret in case the child tells you something that you need to pass on such as if he or she is being abused. It is important to keep confidentiality with children and their families for safety of the child and to gain the trust of them and parents. Breaking the confidentiality policy can result in termination of your employment
and also will upset parents and the staff
C1.information should be shared about a child if you suspect or see signs of abuse for example unusual cuts or bruises, so that the member of staff can make a note of it and monitor it to see if it continues. Another time when this information should be shared is if a different person is picking a child up. Most settings have a password what the parents have to pass to other people if they are collecting the child for example mums password is dog she would have to tell granddad the password so that he can collect the child. That way the staff in the setting knows granddad is allowed to take the child home.
D5. Before I start placement I will ring them to let them know that im looking forward to working with them. I will find out what time I start and what to wear. I will ask other relevant questions for example what age range I will be working with and also ask if they would like me to visit before I start. Whilst im there I will be part of a team all working towards the common aim which is to educate the children and help them develop. We must make sure they have care routines and are in a safe environment. In a team I must communicate clearly with other members of staff to make sure we are all doing the same to help the children with their learning and development. As part of a team we must all value other people’s views to make the place a better place for the children.
B1. I should aim to make a good impression on my first day of placement by arriving on time which would show I have good time keeping skills, asking relevant questions to show im interested such as what age group will I be working with or what time do the children have there dinner or snack etc. I would always smile to show I’m friendly and would wear the appropriate clothing like smart black pants. I should try and make a good first impression to show the staff im able and interested in what I’m doing and to prove I can handle a job working with children and capable of the responsibilities and also so when I leave I will be able to get a really good reference from them.

D7. Diversity is about valuing each individual’s differences. It aims to recognise value and manage differences to enable everyone to realise there full potential. It challenges us to recognise and value all sorts of differences in order to adapt our environment to make it a better place to work and learn.
