The Meaning of a True Hero A true hero can be anyone. Heroes are not limited to being tall and strong, as portrayed in many modern films. Instead, a true hero can be a frail woman, a sickly child, or even a disabled man. This is because a true hero is one who goes to the extremes and perform above and beyond expectations, often at the risk of his or her safety, to help those in need.     In Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff’s “The Lion King,” a young lion cub named Simba lives with his mother, father “King Mufasa” and a villainous uncle Scar in the Pride Lands of Africa. Once, with the help from hyenas Scar attacks Simba and King Mufasa to take the throne as King of Pride Lands. Later, Scar accuses Simba for the death of his father and that he should leave the pride lands in shame. He grows up with two friends Timon and Pumbaa. Once, his friends are attacked by Nala who takes Simba back to Pride Land. Soon after reaching his homeland, he learns that it was Scar who killed his father and tricked him by putting the blame on him.     When people define the word hero it usually varies by age, gender, and generation when they answer, and even though people's connotations of the word may vary, the denotation and the connotation always seen to cross paths with each other. According to Merriam-Webster.com the definition of hero is "a person who is admired for great or a brave act or fine qualities: a person who is greatly admired: the chief male character in a story, play, movie, ect." A person's connotation and the denotation both have to do with someone being admired or a person who has performed a great act of selflessness.
