Hidden Heroes Research Paper

The world as we know it today is constantly changing for every one of us, but an absolute truth exists-there will always be heroes. Moreover, they are not just the soldiers who fight in our wars; the police who enforce our laws; the firefighters who work to extinguish the fires that can destroy our homes; the athletes who entertain us; and the doctors who try to save countless lives every day. There are some heroes who are nameless-who rise to the occasion not for fame or glory, but for the sake of other people. These unnoticed heroes live within all of us. Hidden heroes who are selfless, moral, and determined to act when another person is in need. However, in order for our hidden heroes to reveal themselves, we must be in a completely selfless state of mind. It is imperative that a person is more concerned with the needs and wants of others than his own because it is the core principle of any hero. A person, for example, can lend another person twenty dollars, but if it is done with the expectation of a reward, then it is. by all means, a selfish action. Nonetheless, there are many different cases of unselfish behavior: the individual who gives all of his lottery money to nonprofit organizations; the individual who talks to a stranger in an existential crisis when no one else will; the individual who volunteers even if he is partially unaware of what he is volunteering for; the individual who helps search for a lost person simply because he was asked for help; and the list of unselfish people never
