High Honor Student Analysis
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us” (Ephesians 3:20). Trying to be the best you can be or an overachiever, takes a lot of time and sacrifice. But sometimes, we end up sacrificing the thing that matters most in life. Being a high honor student in school meant using my time to complete assignments, studying, and being involved in extracurricular activities. But in order to perform as such student, I had to give less time to other activities such as my leisure time, and I realized that I was spending little to no with God. I would usually pray for guidance and protection but as I became more committed to school, my prayer life became stagnant. As time passed while my prayer life faded away, coping with school became harder. It reached to the point that I was starting to evaluate if I really needed school to make it through life. In retrospect, I found that in the past it was easier for me to get through school and I began to think hard on what changed between then and that present time. And that’s when I realized that the source of my strength to prevail was coming from the Lord. …show more content…
Whenever I feel like I am losing the battle, I ask myself “what would Jesus want?” “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11) and that meant giving up would not be an option. Having a mother that did not settle for mediocracy also contributed to my current success.     As an executive officer in Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, each individual is responsible for a legacy project during the school year. I was responsible for SOS Children’s Village which is a foster care neighborhood that houses children that were abused, neglected and/or abandoned. Even though this was a one-day experience, I was thrilled about the opportunity to work with children as I believe that no child should be denied proper medical care and a healthy home.     In this paper I will writing about my scores from freshmen scores and my sophomore scores. I will be explaining why the scores went up, went down or why they stays the same. My scores for superman and wall sit were the same both years which 5 minutes each because when I was at home I practice both of them until I got good at them. My 9th grade baseline score for the 12 minute run was 2100 and my post score was 2100 also. This was because I had soccer and gym at the same time and soccer helped me with the running. My 10th grade baseline was 1900 and my post core was 2100. This was because unlike last year, I did not do soccer, so I wasn’t as active as I was in 9th grade.     My faith has enabled me to handle life challenges from my past and present. Some of these challenges have been series of events that I could hardly believe were happening, while others came with great joy. At five years old, my younger brother, Chandler, died unexpectedly. This was a tough challenge for my whole family to face. This challenge could have easily torn my family apart but together, as a team with God, we worked hard at picking up the pieces and moving forward even when there were days that seemed to be impossible. In the fifth grade, I was diagnosed with a common learning disability known as Attention Deficit Disorder. I am faced with this challenge on a daily basis. I have learned to cope with this disorder over the years by making prayer and patience priorities in helping me conquer this challenge. This challenge was especially difficult during my SAT and ACT tests. Certain scores on these tests were required to get into college and play NCAA football. The stress and pressure of taking these tests felt unbearable at times. While studying and before and during each test, I would remind myself that, through God, all things are possible.
