People at all levels of the organization are introduced to the standards of excellence from the moment they express interest in joining the organization, and they make a commitment to meeting these standards. Standards are a dynamic means for facilitating growth and improvement. Establishing standards is just not enough though. The systems and procedures are essential to be designed to nurture quality and promote accountability. People must receive ongoing coaching and support as well as freedom to behave in ways that are consistent with the standards of the organization. Without these, standards decline. This is due to ineffective systems and methods of communicating and is frustrating for the person trying to communicate and for people who are expected to act on the instruction provided. In a High Performance organization, information is shared in a relevant and timely manner in order to make informed decisions. Communication flows from top to bottom as well as bottom to top. A mix of managers and line staff from various departments should work together to discuss issues and implement projects. This creates a greater understanding by people at all levels and also inspires open communication across all departmental lines. I.e. Top management will understand how line staff operates and how they require systems, and then top management will make informed decisions and make ‘reachable
