High School Band Experience Essay
Being a part of the Temple High School Band has greatly impacted my educational and life choices. Being involved in band has taught me how to have better time management, multitask, be reliable and be able to work great in a team. Being involved in band is a great way to enhance many personal skills. By having to go to sectionals and marching band rehearsals, it shows how flexible one must be in order to function well in an activity. Luckily for me, it worked out great since I normally go to sleep early. By having to wake up early and arrive at school, it has made me become more of a morning person. I am a very dedicated person who arrives at a timely manner to any and all things band related. I have made a good relationship with my directors …show more content…
I have no idea where I would be without having learned life lessons through music in this band program. I would highly encourage students participating in middle school band to continue it in high school. Middle school band is nothing compared to the passion and warmth they would feel in being a part of such a greatly united group of individuals like a high school band. If one would be able to have the opportunity to be in the high school band, I would encourage them to do so. After attending it for at least a year, they would immediately see a change. High schoolers are more passionate, and caring for the world of music and that makes such a drastic difference between the two schools. I have learned that being united in such a way like band, we are all required for excellence. In the first half of the year, with football season, marching band is the best. When someone in our band is absent, their spot in the marching show is a hole, which causes holes in the pictures we create. It causes that section of the band to be one person less. Being a part of the marching band has caused a need for time and scheduling management. We need to learn of important dates, such as football games, along with other

In high school, I was involved multiple clubs and groups varying from athletic, academic, and artistic. Overall, the school’s marching band color guard had the largest influence on my personal growth in during the time. At my school, all color guard members are required to complete one season of marching and playing instruments with the band before being allowed to join the guard. Therefore, it wasn’t until my sophomore year that I auditioned and was accepted into the color guard which I participated in for the rest of my high school career. Because there was no recognized team captain, all the girls were expected to step up as leaders not only for themselves but for everyone else as well.…

I am a leader. I have all the qualities that make a great leader, but I was not born this way.Experiences and how someone reacts to those experiences are what truly make a leader. One of the most influential experiences I have gone through is called the Lebanon High School Marching Band. I am certain that I wouldn’t be who I am today if it weren’t for marching band. Before coming to high school I already had leadership qualities, but band helped bring all those great qualities together and helped me get past my two major flaws: my lack of self-confidence and the fact that I was probably one of the shyest people you would EVER meet. When I joined marching band, I spent most of my waking hours sweating and suffering alongside wonderful people that I longed to…

Firstly, marching band allows for people to make a countless number of friends. For instance, when they start their freshman year, they are a fishy, upperclassmen help they out, and start to legitimately bond with them. Half way through the season they have already talked with all the band members, and made acquaintances and friends with the majority of them. Sweat drizzles down my skin as it exits my pores trying to cool my heated body. The blood rushes through my veins pumping blood with the consistent pounding of my heart. Every breath, every second, every action, every thought; I am standing where everything counts. Artificial turf and grass crumpled beneath my torn black shoes and the thick silence only cut by the timed chants from afar. This is the last moment I will stand here for this reason. This is the last moment I will stand here with my family. This is the last moment of my marching band career. Many will say that this was a special group of kids, others will say that this year was a show that was made to make it. I, on the other hand, will say that this was because of seven years of dedication.…

Before I had even started high school I hit a very deep depression. I struggled with it for years. I felt I had no family and no friends. It was a very hard time for me. I didn't enjoy talking about my feelings or being around people due to the fact that I felt I just annoyed those around me. Despite this, I continued doing what I loved most: music. I began marching band my eighth grade year and loved the feeling of being on the field in the lights when our assistant band director would come over the loud speaker announcing the "McClain Marching Tigers and Tigerettes". It helped me find and accept who I am. I gained confidence and learned to lead and understand. It even introduced me to my closest friend whom introduced me to his friend group, giving me the first group of friends I had in my life. I've met so many new people and learned so many new skills throughout my marching career and I look forward to finishing out my senior year with the people who have been there with me from the beginning.…

As somebody who always had trouble fitting in in school, it was really hard to find a place of which I could be a part of. I joined band in middle school, and I enjoyed playing greatly, even if I wasn’t the most talented saxophone player in the program. Not only do I try to accomplish these events in the band, but I am also a leader of the school. This year is my ninth year of being a cheerleader and it has taught me a lot about respect. I understand that people do not consider cheerleading a sport, but they do not take into their consideration the hard work we put into everything we do. This also relates to the band because it is not known as a competitive sport, but we work just as hard in our job and perfecting performances, just as much as any athlete. Nine years of the same activity takes lots of endurance and dedication into a certain passion, and I have learned over the years to have this.…
