First after the 9/11 attacks, airlines in the United States experienced a dramatic increase in activity for security purposes. Travelers must check in at least two hours before their flight takes off. There are restrictions on what travelers can and cannot bring. Liquids have to be a certain size and placed in clear, sealed containers. No food or bottled water is allowed through security. Passengers are selected at random for more intense screenings. Over the decade, airport security has introduced new equipment, thus creating longer lines.Today, the lines move a little faster, mostly because travelers have become accustomed to the post 9/11 restrictions.…
The next Pearl Harbor will not announce itself with a searing flash of nuclear light. You will hear a sharp crack in the distance. By the time you mistakenly identify this sound as an innocent clap of thunder, Fluorescent lights and television sets will glow eerily bright, despite being turned off.. Your Palm Pilot and MP3 player will feel warm to the touch, their batteries overloaded. Your computer, and every bit of data on it, will be toast. And then you will notice that the world sounds different too. Save a few diesels, engines will never start again. You, however, will remain unharmed.…
Most of the American public that has flown since 9/11 has been willing to put up with delays, personal searches, and increased security procedures (Young). New airport security measures have added unnecessary inconveniences and hassles. Airport security screeners need to carefully examine alternative screening measures for the future (Young). They need to do a better job in this whole process of screening and also profiling potential terrorists. The process of screening and profiling has contributed to numerous complaints from passengers who have been selected for additional screening. Passenger profiling at the airport should not be the sole means of protecting our flying public from would-be terrorists. If a present security measure is found to prevent potential customers from flying without providing a meaningful…
Have you ever wanted to create the explosive thrills of a Michael Bay action film? Better yet, have you ever wondered what it would be like to tether an enemy to a helicopter and then shoot it down with rocket? Or, maybe, to ride a fuel canister high into the sky? Surely, the answer to these questions is a resounding ‘Yes’. Massive explosions, chaos, destruction, and fun are the name of the game, and that game is Just Cause 3. Embrace your inner rebel as you topple a military dictator as you unleash pandemonium and devastation to your…
Why buy an American made vehicles you ask? I’ll tell you why because buying American made vehicles creates American made jobs. Everyone knows that American made vehicle’s make a distinctive sound. I’m sure you all have heard about Sydney’s lockout laws in the news recently. Although right now it doesn’t affect us, this issue is literally EVERYWHERE I look. All I can see is different news outlets picking sides and criticising these laws. As media consumers, we expect the media to give us a fair representation of the issue reported. While most news reports are quite fair, balanced and accurate, sometimes a little devil appears on the journalist’s shoulder and whispers “write a biased article”. For those who don’t know, a biased article is an article that does not represent individuals, groups or issues fairly. Don’t get what I’m saying? Give me five minutes to prove how biased news can be. Prepare to be mindblown on the…

PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a psychiatric disorder that can occur following the experience or witnessing of life-threatening events such as the military combat, natural disasters, terrorism incidents, or any major tragedy. This is common in the life of veterans and is the leading cause of suicide among veterans. A VA patient who survived in Baghdad shares his experience with PTSD and explains how he knew he had this disability. Many veterans speak out about this issue and describe their continuous anger, alcohol addiction, and constantly wanted to fight. They usually feel very isolated and distant from their loved ones. One patient states, “PTSD involves rocketing into extreme states of stress re-activity; in the form of terror, rage, and uncontrollable impulses, and plunging into equally extreme states of being shut-down—exhaustion, emotional numbing, despair, and dissociation”. PTSD is about having fear and anxiety, allowing veterans to rage with anger and different emotion. There are many factors to PTSD, which affects others in different ways; or example, using video games to keep them occupied, spending money due to the lack of impulse control because of changes in their brain, and even not obtaining another job.…
Attention Getter: I would like to start my presentation off by telling you all to ask yourselves a series of fairly straight forward questions. I want you to take a look at you’re, any hand and ask your selves “Who’s hand is this?” Do the same with your other hand, and now both legs and your arms if you would like. If I am not mistaking the answer to all your questions are mine right. They are your hands, legs, and arms. What I am trying to get through to you all today is that your body is your body and that a person should be able to profit of his or her own body if done in a safe and controlled way.…
The long, terrifying issue in this country is currently terrorizing. American people’s travel and public safety. Also Recruitment of American people into ISIS and become a terrorist and risk our safety. All acts of terrorism are committed by groups of people in the middle east. The attacks in 9/11 were carried out by a group named Al-Qaeda. The group that we are concern about now is ISIS. It is so controversial because, either we can declare war and have many innocent people perish or use other alternative actions to resolve this issue.…
