Holmes-Rahe Readjustment Report
Reading through the Holmes-Rahe Readjustment Scale I had a total score of 246. This score was in between 150-299 of life changing units. Some of the scoring of the life events I think were scored a little weird. However, I do believe that the major events such as death of a spouse should be scored high like it was, but the events such as son or daughter leaving home should have been scored lower whereas the minor violations of the law should have been scored higher. I state this because minor violations of the law could result in someone getting hurt even though they are minor. In addition, I believe that death of a close friend should be high in scoring in correlation to death of a spouse. The life event that I think should be added is death
of a pet. This past fall, my family went through a major change in our life when we had to put our one and only dog to sleep. Our dog named Stanley, was diagnosed with cancer when the doctor realized that there was a tumor growing on his back leg. As a family, we were given the options of letting him go through surgery and chemotherapy where there was a possibility of him not making it or letting him live out the rest of his life free with us. We chose to let him live out his life and two weeks later, he did not make it.
