Adolf Hitler, the leader of Nazi Germany, was a heartless and uncaring man. He was born on April 20, 1889 in a small Austrian town of Braunau near Germany’s border. Hitler’s father Alios Hitler was a short-tempered, strict and brutal father. It is known that Alios would always beat Hitler when he was young. Hitler’s mother, Klara Hitler, was the opposite of Alios Hitler. She was very caring and loving to her son.

Some of the victims were the Jews, Gypsies, and people with disabilities, homosexuals and Jehovah’s Witnesses. On the night of November 9, 1938, gangs of Nazi officers on the streets of Germany and attacked the Jews. Thousands of synagogues, Jewish businesses and homes were destroyed. Many Jews were tortured, sent to concentration camps and many were killed. This event came to be called Kristallnacht meaning the Night of Broken Glass because of the broken store window that covered Germany’s streets. The cause for this violence was the assassination of Ernst Rath, the Secretary of the German Embassy in Paris, by a Jewish boy named Herschel. Kristallnacht lasted till November 10, 1938. This was the beginning of the Holocaust.

One of the most famous genocide events is the Nazi Holocaust. This event took place from 1938 until 1945, with an overall 6,000,000 deaths. This event was run by a dominant figure named, Adolf Hitler. Hitler began the time period as a boycott of Jewish shops but turned it into an attempt at exterminating the entire Jewish population in Europe. He blamed the Jewish population for the loss of World War one and then the start of World War two. Due to The Night of Broken Glass, the first mass arrest of 25,000 Jewish men were hauled off to concentration camps. Then in 1940, more concentration camps were built near what was soon to be name Auschwitz. The next year Auschwitz II was built, which was where the gas chambers were introduced. “The idea of using gas chambers originated during the Euthanasia Program, the so-called "mercy killing" of sick and disabled persons in Germany and Austria by Nazi doctors.” Mobile gas vans were another way of executing the Jews. But due to the occupancy being less than 50 people at a time, this method was short lived and the quickest killing method of mass shootings remained as the most used. Finally on April 30, 1945 Adolf Hitler committed suicide and his Reich soon ended.…

Because of his desire to make the land free of racial impurities, he often went to drastic measures to ensure that no Jew would make it past his inspection; furthermore, the Holocaust came into existence. Hitler was a man who led a life of sadistic acts that fueled his burning fire for what many would call anti-Semitism. To punish those who Hitler felt were impure, he instated a vast number of concentration camps that offered endless…

The Holocaust is primarily seen as the greatest mass killings in history. What needs to be highlighted is that Germans and the Nazis were not the only ones who killed the Jews, but also other non-Jews, including neighbors and school friends. With the killing of Jews, came a huge movement of pillaging and Aryanization. So not only did the Jews have to fear the Nazis and the Germans, but they also could not fully trust their friends and neighbors. This era truly became, what Gross calls it, a “golden harvest”. So not only is the Holocaust the greatest murder in history, but also the greatest robbery in history.…
