Holy Ghost: Film Directed By Peter Adair
Holy Ghost is a film directed by Peter Adair. The film takes place in Appalachian Mountain in West Virginia. The author main focus is Pentecostal community. Researching what Pentecostal is, I have found they are a new party from protestant Christian. They believe in that one must have direct experience with god and they way to do that is by the Holy Spirit. They consider that once a person accepts Jesus than they will acquire special powers such as speaking in tongue and divine healing. The Pentecostal holiness get their interpretation of snake handling and poison drinking from the biblical passage of Mark that say, "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; …show more content…
Their actions were scary and dangerous. When I was watching the movie I felt like they were people who seemed average and never thought they would resort to doing a dangerous action like they did in the movie. It was also scary because they were little children around them. They had people who had been having seizures and no one were willing to be helping them. In the beginning, they seemed like people who care about each other by the loving way they greeted each other. However, in the middle of the documentary, the tone changes because are acting in unhealthy way, some are falling on the ground but no one is helping them …show more content…
Scholars believe that Sikhism has been influenced by between south Asian religion and Islam. The founder of the religion is Kabir who existed between 1440 and 1518. Kabir was once a Muslim who also believed in the Hinduism teaching. He combined Hindu Bakti with Muslim Sufism. He spread his message throughout India and gained followers. Kabir also believed that one must have a guru in order to get spiritual guidance. One of the followers that Kabir had when he was spreading his message was Nanak. Nanak was a Hindu who was influenced by Kabir. It was not until the death of Nanak that the name Sikh formed. Sikhs is a Sanskrit which means learner. The title of Guru was first given to by a man named Angad. Angad was able to collect him and added his own hymn. It was not until the fifth guru that the Sikh was formed. Argan was the successor of the guru title and he later gained a political and economical power. He was able to build temples and give identity to the Sikh religion. In this century, Sikhism has established identity of being brave due to Gobind Sing. Although, Sikhism is only one percent of the Indian religion, thirty people of the military in India are Sikhs. Gobind Singh is the last Human guru in the religion. He made sure that military played a role in Sikhism.     Sikhism began in 1469 with the birth of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Guru Nanak began preaching the way of enlightenment and God after he had received a spiritual vision from god.
