Three main causes of homelessness in Atlanta are having bad weather conditions, being in debt, and relocation. The Atlanta Mission organization has been around since 1938 which was when the The Great Depression took place. The organization started out by establishing a soup kitchen feeding the homeless men affected by The Great Depression. The Atlanta’s Mission statement is,”Atlanta Mission transforms, through Christ, the lives of those facing homelessness.”
Services in Atlanta Mission can be very useful to homeless people. Atlanta Mission provides shelter for men, shelter for women and children, addiction recovery, spiritual recovery, vocational training, day services, and transitional housing. The organization was created since 1938 and it started out giving soup to homeless men displaced by The Great Depression and today, Atlanta Mission provides all types of services.
