The bombings on Japan are the most controversial topics anyone can talk about when it comes to any president's decisions. On August 6th, 1945 an atomic bomb was dropped on Japanese military base Hiroshima as a way to force Japan's surrender, have revenge on them for the bombings of Pearl Harbour, and show the United States dominance against the world. In some cases, he has said that he was motivated just by revenge. This was the first atomic bomb ever used in global warfare. Not already devastated, Japan received more destruction when 3 days later, another bomb was dropped on Nagasaki which was the final stage of World War 2. However, almost any survey that you can find will show you that most citizens supported or were neutral on the fact that the bombs were what was needed to end the war.
