Himmler was fourteen when the First World War began. He followed closely its events and convinced his parents to send him at the front as officer. Unfortunately, the war ended before he was given this opportunity. Himmler was disappointed by the sudden German defeat and by the shameful peace terms inflicted by the new Republic. This caused him to change from a role model to what he became in the aftermath.
In 1923, he participated to the failed overthrow of Munich by Hitler. In this period, Himmler’s thought combined with the ambition of making carrier. In 1925 he enrolled in the SS.
