“Europeans believed the original inhabitants of America were heathens and savages who needed to be civilized through Christianity and European culture”( MLA ). This helped me come to the conclusion that at the beginning racism wasn't because of hatred of mankind but because of the corrupt mind of man throughout a period of time.

I would assume that he knew he would not live to see an old age since sadly this wasn't his the first attempt on his life. The assassination of 1968 was not the first but the second attempt on his life.12 years before Dr. King's death, King was nearly stabbed to death in Harlem by a mentally ill African-American woman who believed he was conspiring against her with communists. With this assumption, she stabbed him in the chest with a letter opener. He underwent emergency surgery, and remained hospitalized for several weeks but made a full recovery. The doctor who performed the operation said, “Had Dr. King sneezed or coughed the weapon would have penetrated the aorta he was just a sneeze away from death”. ( MLA
