How Does Alexander The Great Deserve His Title
Alexander the great was hailed by many historians as one of the greatest kings of his time. Because of his greatness he earned the title of alexander the great. I believe, that with all of the things that Alexander did for the Greek empire, he definitely deserves this title. He was able to acquire much more land, he stopped the largest rebellion in greek history, and, under his rule, great cities were created that mixed many cultures to create great cities. Based upon all of the gathered evidence, I think that his title is well deserved. To begin, let’s discuss his ability to acquire land for the greek culture. One of his most widely seen accomplishments, was his ability to conquer the entirety of persia. Prior to Alexander’s rise …show more content…
This uprising was known as the Theban Uprising, because of where it took place, and those involved. Thebe’s was a city inside of greece that did not believe in, nor did they want, Alexander as their ruler. Because of this, and the fact that they were treated poorly by alexander's father when he was their ruler they decided to rebel. What they did was wrong because of the fact that alexander allowed them to continue practicing their own culture, and allowed them to continue believing in whatever they wanted to believe in. Nevertheless, they rebelled anyway. When Alexander was notified of the Rebellion he immediately rallied 30,000 troops to help him take back the city. Using his strong knowledge of the military he was able to successfully take back the city. While the city was burned down afterward, many believe that it was not Alexander's fault. Alexander still allowed the city to thrive, and let some city officials stay in power. Alexander did choose to leave behind some troops as they help prevent another rebellion, and those troops he left behind, of their own accord, burnt down the city. I believe that because of Alexander's ability to take the city, and because of his respect of Thebaine culture even after the rebellion, he deserves his title as Alexander the

Now, instead of simply discussing his most glorious battle and successful expansion of his empire by overthrowing the Persian Empire. And although they were a major success to his rising to power. People must be able to understand exactly how even after defeating his enemies, Alexander ran these new additions to his empire and effected them through cultural influence. Alexander achieved many things that would be considered unachievable by many in that era. However, with his achievements came mistakes, or as some might say a God like complex. No matter, whichever way you look at it, he succeeded where others failed. Alexander wanted to be greater than his father, and he certainly achieved this goal. Alexander was great because he conquered a country in the years 333BC, 332BC, 331BC, 331BC, 330BC, 327BC, 324BC and 323BC. This demonstrates that he was great because he used tactics that would defeat enemies. An example of a tactic he used is phalanx. Phalanx means “a body of Macedonian infantry drawn up in close order with shields touching and long spears overlapping”. This was good because he could easily besiege cities which helped him take over the Mediterranean. My own research shows that Alexander the Great took power over the countries Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine, Egypt, northern Afghanistan and Iraq. This shows how Alexander the Great was so prodigious.…

The surrounding Greek city-states which King Phillip had unified under the Corinthian league were seeking to take leadership of the league for themselves. In response, Alexander sent an army to the region of Thessaly to force the the city-states into acknowledging him as leader of the Corinthian league. This leadership was officialized at a meeting in Thermopylae in 336, where treaties with Greek states were reissued, and Alexander was given full control of the Persian conquests.(Alexander The Great, n. d.) Before the newly established king would begin his invasion of Asia Minor, he conquered the Thracian Triballians to secure the Northern Macedonian border. However, at the end of his Thracian campaign, Alexander received word that the city-state Thebes had forced out stationed Macedonian troops, Alexander was quick to respond, and brought a vast army consisting of 3,000 cavalry and 30,000 infantry to Thebes. Alexander the 3rd’s greatness has been questioned in the past and even scholars have long debated the question was Alexander the Great really Great? But one must ask how his legend has survived for thousands of years and his name well known? Many would venture to say that Alexander was great because he was able to rule his father’s kingdom at a very young age.
