How to Become a Good Leader
Although Ruth has capabilities to become a leader in electronics company of S&L, Eduardo‘s leadership skills will lead to success. Ruth is a strong sales manager and sets a high expectation to co-workers but Eduardo is a friendly and extrovert manager. Extrovert refers to a person concerned primarily with the physical and social environment (dictionary.com). Comparing both managers, Eduardo’s personalities can easily get along with his co-workers because maintaining a good working relationship with co-workers is important to managers.
Eduardo has good communication skills with his co-workers. There are two types of communication which develops an oral communication and a written communication. An oral communication leads a manager to bring out information where concerns, questions, and objections can be heard and addressed. For instance, Eduardo talks to employees where he can answer feedbacks from them. Other than that, written communication refers to ( ). A well-written document can provide legal leverage in instances of conflict, as it records the communication that has taken place on the matter (Lauren, N.D.). Eduardo has an effective written communication skill in such a way the message need not be sent immediately and let every employee to agree before the decisions were made.
Leadership skill is crucial for manager to achieve company’s goal. A leader must know how to handle any conflicts in the work place. The capability in dealing with difficult staff must be strong where the manager is eager to listen to employee’s problem. Eduardo is a good listener and approachable to talk to his coworkers by sorting out their problems. Moreover, ( ). A leader delegates work to employees to and let them to feel more involved in decision makings. Therefore, Eduardo can concentrate on the goals that needed to be achieved.
Opponents may claim that Ruth could lead S&L Company to success through her friendliness. However, this may be true but without a good friendly skill, company’s goals will not be achieved easily with employees. A good listening skill allows the managers to work better in a team-based environment. If there is good listening skills in the workplace, there is a better chance of having better ideas to solve problems, to coming up with good incentive programs, and everyone gets a say, because they are being listened to ( Cassie, 2012) . Eduardo holds various team meetings which are formal and informal to get employees to agree before making any decisions. He can also handle with international staff as he treats co-workers individually.
A good leader must have the ability to communicate with co-workers effectively which the company’s profitability and productivity can be improved. Understanding employees’ decisions and problems are crucial because it develops trust between manager and employee. Treating co-workers equally will not lose the respect from them easily. 1.     A leader always plays an important role in business world. Not only supervise the staff, but must also convince them to corporate objectives, by contributing their work with a commitment.
