A Healthier America From 1991 to 2000 the average weight of Americans increased by 8.5 pounds- not such a shocking detail. Higher taxes are imposed on healthy foods but not junk foods, making unhealthy foods easier and more convenient to obtain. With this kind of economic “strategy” obesity is to be expected. To encourage healthy eating, higher taxes should be imposed on soft drinks and junk food. This strategy will surely influence a better diet and put America back at number one. Higher prices detour people from making a purchase. Some people are rich, some people are infatuated, and some people think bigger is better. While some lucky individuals would have the money to spend on junk foods and soft drinks if taxes were raised on them, it would surely intimidate them. Others may be a bit infatuated with unhealthy things and spend their money loosely, but the acknowledgement of other needs would surely kick in. Better items are indeed pricier, but bigger is not always better. The knowledge that you have a whole country backing you up is enough to inspire. …show more content…
The people of America certainly digest too much food and try to find ways to cope with their obesity. In the lead with a 30.1 percentile for obesity is the Unites States. While there are many diverse foods that would attract your attention, you cannot blame a person’s obesity on “good food”. It is an individual’s choice to make a sound eating decision, what they put in their mouth is their choice. One could make the decision to eat uncontrollably and then say that they are happy with their obesity. That is most likely a false claim made to either ignore their consequence for a bad decision or repress feelings and
