Because we serve more than 22,000 nonprofits, product needs are broad. Women’s shelters need clothes, personal care products, mattresses and bedding. After-school programs need books, sports equipment, and toys. And communities trying to rebuild from floods, hurricanes, fires and earthquakes need building supplies, tools, housewares or home furnishings. But one thing is certain:…
The attention of the audience will be captured through a simple message of keeping clothes clean. The creative approach towards media attention will be a simple worded and heart rending message, which speaks about the importance of keeping clothes clean and well ironed. When consumers allow the assistance of a dry cleaning business, especially one that accommodates the needs of ladies, it allows them to keep up their stigmas of cleanliness. This is also all being accomplished and delivered at a price point which is affordable so it is never out of reach for the average consumer.…

When food-bank drives are conducted, people generously donate items such as canned beans and boxed cereal but don’t often don’t think about baby supplies, leaving the banks often unable to help families with food, diapers, and other things for their babies. To meet this need, the UCBCC conducts a drive the second Saturday of each May and September to gather baby supplies. Typically, these drives are held in large supermarkets that have given permission to UCBCC to set up a table near the front of the store and as customers come in, invite them to purchase a baby item or two while they are shopping to donate to the food bank or to contribute money. As the customers leave, they drop off the purchased items at the donation table.…

Website visitors, UbyKotex.com, which was designed by the New York office of Organic, section of the Omnicom Group, are encouraged to sign a “Declaration of Real Talk,” pledging to defy societal pressures that discourage women from speaking out about their bodies and health. For every signer, Kotex donates $1 to “Girls for Change,” a national nonprofit based in San Jose, California, that puts together urban middle school and high school girls with professional women to encourage social change. According to Mr. Meurer of Kotex, “We’re really out there and we’re trying to touch women and say we care about this conversation.” We’re changing our brand equity to stand for truth and transparency and progressive vaginal care.” (The N.Y.…
This is an issue, considering that half the population has menstrual periods. Walter is an activist who is determined to improve hygiene in developing or poor nations. She works with WASH advocates (Water, sanitation, and hygiene) on a mission to go across the developing world to support millions of girls with their difficulties managing their period. However, Walter emphasizes the struggles of addressing the problem in hope for change. “Even level-headed experts on poverty tend to get squeamishness when the talk turns to periods.” (Walter) Furthermore, in behalf of the “awkward” talk over menstrual hygiene, global health and development advocates discounted the subject for decades. Walter considers that her peers often conclude this is a feminist matter or something that women should keep private. The good news is that awareness is growing rapidly. Being that, there are many non-profit and for-profit companies eager to develop affordable alternatives. In fact, Diana Sierra, founder of BeGirl, the company that invented a bright purple underwear that is waterproof. This underwear is made out of bamboo fibers that makes its safe and easy to manufacture. Despite the ongoing obstacles, Walter and Sierra are two women that resist judgement in order to pursuit the goal to improve…
Another challenge we discussed was the obstacle of finding homeless people in the streets and what we would do with excess donations/clothing. We understand that we will not just find homeless individuals anywhere in the streets especially on cold days So we decided prior to coming out to hand our care packages we will note and create routes based on where we have seen homeless staying in the past. We will also have contacted a homeless shelter in order to donate any excess…
While we began throwing ideas around, our group soon realized the challenges we would need to overcome to execute our plan. As we did research on different websites looking for backpacks, we found we were unable to give the substantial information needed to fill our sponsorship applications. Since we don’t know enough the obstacle of…
Similarly, if you do not have much money to donate, you can still contribute what you have right now in your house. For sure that you must have some household goods…
So far for my Graduation Project I have worked quite a bit communicating between people and trying to get events arranged. My graduation project is going to be on Geriatric Nursing and my product will be in two parts. First I will host a Blood Drive at Southwood Nursing Center on April 11th which I have already arranged with Southwood and the hospital in Clinton. Secondly I will gather items from church, family and friends to take to Southwood and be distributed among the residents. I became a certified CNA last semester and while doing my clinical I grew a deep bond between the residents there. Most have been placed there because families are unable to take care of their constant needs and many become neglected by family over time. I noticed while there that only a few of the residents received regular visits from family or friends. Our healthcare system simply cannot afford the necessities that people need at times and many times there is a under stock of items like soap and deodorants. The second part of my product will include taking up these types of items and distributing them. Items will include toiletries such as soaps, deodorants, toothpaste and toothbrushes, razors and brushes as well as items that help keep them occupied such as books and puzzles. And of course blankets are included because the anatomy of a geriatric patient keeps them cold constantly. I believe that this project will not only be beneficial to me and my grade but will also be beneficial to the residents who are deeply in need. My mentor is a RN in the community and someone who has been in the field for over 25 years. She is extremely knowledgeable on the topic and even worked in a long term facility for years. The staff at Southwood are friends of mine and are very supportive of my project and have even agreed for the living room of the facility to be the venue of the blood drive. Although abuse in these types of facilities is common I have found that the staff at Southwood are very…
My menopausal friends and I talk about we are free at last! After thirty or forty years enduring the discomfort, tension, and inconvenience of menstrual cycles we couldn’t wait to get off the rag. No more super absorbent, super big, or heavy-flow pads! No more super thin sanitary napkins with super absorbent crystals that never super absorbed anything. No more super absorbent tampons that were never enough by themselves. And best of all, no more cramps!…
