There were a host of responses done right that put all of what has been learned so far into perspective. As with any potential threat, emergency responders were previously trained in the active shooter scenario. Training from local law enforcement officers was accurate and up to date with current protocols and adjusted methods for immediately entering and clearing the building. However, with a near immediate release of almost all available information, media outlets potentially could have interfered with ongoing investigations by releasing too much available information. If this were an incident with an unknown additional assailant, this could have allowed the person to initiate his escape sooner than planned. Overall, the emergency management system worked fluidly and near flawlessly. Being trained on potential threats and scenarios through active shooter training and mass casualty exercises, all involved were able to adapt to the scenario at hand through training and improvisation.
