Only one in every four million kids is known to be diagnosed with Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome, or most commonly known as Progeria syndrome or “Aging disease.” Progeria syndrome was first founded in 1886 by Dr. Jonathan Hutchinson and by Dr. Hastings Gilford in 1904. Progeria Syndrome is extremely rare and newborns appear to be normal at birth until the first year when the first signs of symptoms begin to appear. Since first found, only 130 cases have been documented. Children with this disease do not live past 13 in most cases. These children are stripped away from their childhood.
