I Believe In Soccer
The sound of players on the field panting from exhaustion. The sweet smell of freshly cut grass, that is now being ripped up by new, old, Nike and Adidas cleats. The warmth and excitement from surrounding fans. For me it is like my second home. I believe in soccer.

But why? “Too much running,” I used to say. All my mom said back every time was, “It is good for you.” I never truly understood till now. As I got older and kept playing the game I realized how enjoyable it really is. By now I had forgotten all about the running even though I was still doing it. Soccer has helped me make many new friends that I can tell will always be close to me. This past summer I attended a soccer camp at the St. John's Northwestern Military Academy in Delafield, Wisconsin. I only knew one person there when I arrived, and she was from my soccer team. As the camp went on for just three short cool summer nights I bonded and met people from Madison, Chicago Illinois, and even the Netherlands. I spent the whole time at camp playing the game I love, eating, laughing, and staying up late with them. But the cool thing is I even still keep in touch with them today through social media. The funniest thing of all, is I went to a ODP on a hot day in August, which is the Olympic Development Program for soccer in Wisconsin and saw some of the girls I met from Madison. We talked for a little bit but they are older so we had to go with our own age groups. Soccer will always help me meet new

I remember when I was five, I would always attend my step sister’s soccer games during the weekend while at my dad’s. I would always love to watch but I was more of a hands on person. I have always wanted to play soccer but unfortunately it was harder to do for a kid, like me, when I had divorced parents that lived 40 minutes away from each other.
