First, I believe soccer keeps me fit and teaches me to push myself. It is a great way to get moving and have fun at the same time. Soccer keeps me always on the go traveling and running on the field, even if I don't have the ball! When I first started playing soccer I remember coming home and telling my mom how much I hated it. But why? “Too much running,” I used to say. All my mom said back every time was, “It is good for you.” I never truly understood till now. Soccer has helped me make many new friends that I can tell will always be close to me. This past summer I attended a soccer camp at the St. John's Northwestern Military Academy in Delafield, Wisconsin. I only knew one person there when I arrived, and she was from my soccer team. As the camp went on for just three short cool summer nights I bonded and met people from Madison, Chicago Illinois, and even the Netherlands. I spent the whole time at camp playing the game I love, eating, laughing, and staying up late with them. But the cool thing is I even still keep in touch with them today through social media. The funniest thing of all, is I went to a ODP on a hot day in August, which is the Olympic Development Program for soccer in Wisconsin and saw some of the girls I met from Madison.
