I Want To Attend A Scholarship Essay
I want to attend The Oxbridge Tradition program for various reasons. I love to learn and have a passion for knowledge. I have like-minded siblings who have both attended the program and have told me it had a profound effect on each of them. Ideally, I would study Speech and Debate as my major and British History as my minor. These two are appealing to me because I want to go into politics, and those courses would help me develop useful skills for that field. I want to take British History over International Relations because I believe that through history I can learn more about international politics and diplomacy. Speech and Debate would yield immediate benefits for me in the Alabama Youth Legislature, where I go every year to debate my own …show more content…
I love movies and try to watch one a night after I have gone to tennis and done my homework. My favorite movie is "Oldboy", and my favorite tv show is "Narcos". My brother is a Junior at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and my sister plans on attending the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia next fall. In my free time I also collect baseball cards, watch pro and collegiate sports, hike, and play recreational golf and football. Last summer I had the opportunity to backpack through the Alaskan tundra and sea-kayak the Prince William Sound, and since I have fallen absolutely in love with the outdoors. My favorite subject in school is History. My dad went to Dartmouth University and is a bankruptcy lawyer, and my mom attended the University of Virginia and is now a retired criminal lawyer. They met at Washington & Lee University for graduate school in Law. Those three schools, as well as Georgetown and Columbia, are at the top of my list and I eagerly await the application process next fall. I play the acoustic guitar as well as the piano, and I am trying to learn to play the drums

A map like this gives you all kinds of openings for outside information. Think about prior Constitutional crises prior to 1850 (like the Missouri Compromise situation) and how this legislation changed that. The notion of popular sovereignty, of course, is a great one for thinking about Constitutional principles related to people having a “voice” in their government.…

Over time, as the slaves grew more displeased with their lives, many decided to run away and escape to symbolize that they were unhappy. Others slowed down production by faking illnesses, breaking tools and other things such as accidently burning the barn and foot-dragging. An example of foot-dragging is that when a slave is ordered to bring a bush of cotton to their owner, the slave would purposely drag their feet and take their time, thus slowing down the process of production. Slaves would also “fix” their masters meals by adding a secret ingredient. An example of this is that when a slave is serving any meal in general, they would spit onto their owners’ food before placing it onto the dining table.…

As a humble alumna of Savannah State University, I believe I have much to achieve in life. As the youngest of four siblings who all value education and prosperity, I was taught to excel in everything I do. I am a native of Savannah, Georgia and I have lived here all of my life. Due to great effort and my love for learning, I received a four year academic scholarship to Savannah State University (which I am so grateful for).…

Throughout my school years, I have always wanted to help in the community and make an impact to others therefore when entering my freshman year, I joined many different clubs but one stood out to me which was Key Club assists students in carrying out its mission to serve the children of the world. In the club, we do many acts of service in their communities, such as cleaning up parks, collecting clothing and organizing food drives. We also learn leadership skills by running meetings, planning projects and more so. It provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character and develop leadership. One thing that impacted me from doing community work was the Eliminate Project which is a campaign to raise $110 million to eliminate…

I love to write, I was a finalist in the Veteran’s Day essay in sixth grade and I spend my free time writing, reading or making up stories. Currently I’m writing a book called “Dark April” which is about all the bad things that happened on April 14th. This includes a long list such as Lincoln’s assassination, the first Jews reported at Auschwitz, the cure for typhoid is created and the sinking of the Titanic. I love to push my boundaries, and try new things like food or books. I love to learn about the world and have been to a few countries, however not as many as I would like to one day see. I received S.O.M (student of the month) four times in seventh grade, making honor roll three times, and receiving M.A.G.I.C student a total of seven times. I was placed into honors English and Spanish and even started my own sports blog. However my biggest academic achievement would be receiving the President’s Award for Outstanding Academics. I pride myself on my speaking skills, preforming in my church’s annual Christmas pageant and even forcing my brothers to be in my holiday plays in my basement. I enjoy doing readings during school Mass. I love little kids, so I took a baby sitting course called Safe Sitter. I read to little kids in the basement of my old church during mass, sang songs and did crafts with them because readings and Homilies are to complex for a bunch of three and five year olds. I went to the soup kitchen in Waukegan and helped out there for the afternoon, and I helped set up a haunted house at the Gorton community center for little kids, even helping re arrange paperback books at the library. I love being a leader because I stick up for what’s right. I’m independent and I don’t care what others think of me. I donate money to charities such as the Hole In The Wall Gang, which is now known as SeriousFun. I also ran a 5K for VIE, a group…

My name is Guy Johanson, and I am a sophomore Music Education major at the Setnor School of Music. I am originally from Liverpool, NY, just outside of Syracuse. I have been involved with Syracuse University since the time I was in middle school participating in youth ensembles playing the French Horn and the Oboe. Currently I am a member of the Syracuse University Marching Band, Tau Beta Sigma (the national band sorority), and am usually playing with many ensembles around campus. I work at Old Navy in Destiny USA during school breaks, while during the school year I work at the Cathedral Academy at Pompey as an after school music program teacher. My strongest skill that I possess, I believe, is my ability to time manage. Instead of going to the typical high school like my peers from middle school, I choose to travel 3-4 hours every day for a dual-enrollment program that challenges my mind and abilities every day. This fall, I will be attending University of California, Santa Barbara, under the Global Studies program. I will get a job to support my college education, and I will pursue internships, minors, and study abroad at every opportunity. I am going to become a diplomat through the U.S. Foreign Service, and I will explore the world, making change, helping people, and most importantly, gaining a broader insight of what makes the world tick. The more I travel, the more I will see, and as I learn I intend on using my knowledge to solve major problems and crises and leave the largest positive impact on the world I am capable of, with the help of those I…
