I believe that I can contribute greatly to the UIC Honors college in the form of a unique perspective due to my background. Coming from a Hispanic family that is deeply connected to our culture and heritage, I have always felt that I stood out against my peers. Testimonies from students that have studied abroad from UIC strengthen my desire to do so as well. Studying abroad would allow me to explore my interests and meet many new people. Furthermore, I would love to contribute to the student-organized Red Shoes Review literary magazine. In my high school, I was a part of the literary magazine as well—I was in charge of advertising and was a part of the submissions process. This is an activity that I would really enjoy continuing in college. Another activity that I would definitely want to continue after high school is music. I play the flute and the piano, and I know that the UIC Honors College offers courses in music, which I would love to take and contribute to. Although I have many activities that I want to continue to do, I am excited to be able to try and explore many new things at
