Going to an actual college will allow me to be able to be with others, who take their work seriously and want to be at the college. Challenges I have had over my high school year has made it difficult to be attentive and made it where I had to go from school to school. Raised in a bad situation, caused me to have to move to two different high schools. This consequently caused me to fall behind miss school and lose my way of transportation to and from school. The school however helped me out with a ride and this made it possible to get back in fourth. While all this happened, fortunately I was able to join a Medical Assisting program at Central Nine, which has taught me the basics of nursing and learning about the human anatomy. …show more content…

Nursing, in my opinion, is one of the most significant professions that one can be blessed to acquire. To those who pursue this field know it is a career that requires far more than simply an education even though the knowledge acquired from a degree is extremely important and necessary, by grasping rationale of the laws and regulations that rule nursing. A career in nursing requires someone to have compassion, sympathy, and care for others, especially those who are suffering from pain, illness and lack the understanding of what is happening to them or a loved one. It is a career of humanity, and it is this that first attracted me to a Masters degree in Nursing. My philosophy about nursing is that it is a career that one has to work hard for, but also a career that a person needs to have to a natural affinity for. I also believe one must have a commitment to helping others not expecting anything in return but a smile and knowing when you go home you gave your all. The ability to be a compassionate, caring nurse is what I hope to bring to the Masters degree in Nursing Program, gaining…

A degree in Nursing could help me follow the path that I have wanted to obtain, for myself and for my family. As a first generation, there are high expectations for me to achieve and continue my studies to provide my sisters with a role model. Picking a college to attend was a pretty big deal to my parents than it was for me, for instance, they wanted me to attend a school that would provide me with a lot of financial aid, a school where it is small enough that I do not blend in, and a school that is known for their Nursing program. With that it lead me to this university, knowing that a small institute would provide me with a better outlook rather than a larger university. My experience so far has been a roller coaster, mostly downs. It was a big transition, going from high school where everything is given to you and you follow the material, to a setting where you have to set yourself and prioritize on what is important and disciplining yourself. The material is quite different as well, in high school, we went over the general and basics of a material while in college we review the basics but go even further into the…

Now that I really think about it what in the world was I thinking, I realized that college is an entirely different universe then high school. My journey started 16 years ago right after I graduated high school. In the beginning, I didn’t really know what I wanted to do, but I knew I was fascinated with science and medicine. In the first part of my journey I attended Community College of Philadelphia. When I got to college I had no idea which way to go or what steps to even begin to take. So I took a few classes here and there while I contemplated a career goal. After taking an anatomy and physiology course I knew that I wanted to become a physician. When I first began Community College of Philadelphia I was immature and didn’t see the importance of doing my best. My grades weren’t too great but when I realized my goal, I knew I had to buckle down and really show the determination and commitment I was capable of. On the second part of my journey, I was lead to Temple University. I knew that this was the time to stay focused and make sure I did the best I could do and more. Temple was my second chance. While attending Temple I learned many valuable life lessons. Not only did temple help shape me into a mature and well-rounded woman but it also helped me achieve the tools required to have a successful future.…

One of the first assignments was to talk about ourselves and what our purpose in life was. That was one of the most difficult questions for me to answer because I’ve never been asked that, nor get into deep conversations such as that. Thinking of my qualities, I realized that I am a very caring person and put others in front of me. I naturally take care of others when they need help and will put anything down at any moment to help them. My meaning in life would be that helping hand. One who gives and doesn’t expect to receive. Seeing others happy is what motivates me. Taking this course helped me realize that maybe being a pediatrician would be a comfortable career that I could use my caring qualities in, and a career I would enjoy! I know that I’m emotionally, physically and mentally stable in how I view myself, before joining this course. My only problem was to figure out what my dream career was. To be certain on which direction I am going towards. I’m capable of following through with a goal as long as I know what that goal may be. Now I stand a little taller and more confident of where I am going and the decisions I’m making because of this course. My self-actualization I feel I have I had no…

Since I was a child I was always fascinated by heroes and the things they did to save and help people .From Spiderman to batman to superman I had seen it all and I wanted to be like them, powerful and respected. During my childhood years I had also encountered the most frequent asked question “ what do you want to be when you grow up?” no matter who asked the question the answer was always the same, superhero. Being Superhero was my dream until a couple years later my grandfather got sick and died. From the death of my grandparent I realised that superheroes were not real because they did not save my grandparent from his death. During this time of grief I wondered if I could have done anything to save my grandfather from death. Since that day on I was interested to learn about the human body, how death can occur and how to live longer. Years passed on and I tried different courses but nothing changed my mind. I took many biology and chemistry courses in middle and high school, where I was interested in learning new things and was amazed at how organs function in the human body. When I was younger and someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up it was always the same response, a Nurse. In fifth grade I broke my wrist on Thanksgiving Day. I was jumping on the bed and got pushed off and of course I had to immediately go to the hospital. Once we got there the Nurses were super nice and took care of me the whole time. Since that moment, I have just wanted to have the same effect on other people as they did for me. Also I want to be the first to graduate from college in my family. I want to show my family that I will succeed in life just like they want me to. My family wants to me to get a good job and not have to worry about money so much unlike they have. My parents showed me how important it is to continue schooling. They live paycheck to paycheck and I know what it feels like to not be the kid with more money. I don’t want to have to live like that or have my future family have to live like that. I want to show everyone that I can do it and make a difference in people’s lives. College will help me become a Nurse and do what I have always wanted to. I want to be able to be a travel Nurse and help people in poorer areas that can’t travel to hospitals and help them get better and know that they have a chance to live again. I have always wanted to make a difference and fortunately JJC will help me do that. Right now especially it is important to get a degree in something because our economy is not the best and you need a lot of schooling to go far.
