Nurse Practitioner Admission Essay

For the longest time, I have known that I want to be a Nurse Practitioner. As a young kid I, would play doctor and take care of my siblings or toys and just look after them, it was not until I was in High School when I actually discovered what I wanted to do as a career. I started volunteering at our hospital Marian Regional Medical Center, where my eyes opened to the idea of actually working in the healthcare industry. A degree in Nursing could help me follow the path that I have wanted to obtain, for myself and for my family. As a first generation, there are high expectations for me to achieve and continue my studies to provide my sisters with a role model. Picking a college to attend was a pretty big deal to my parents than it was for me, for instance, they wanted me to attend a school that would provide me with a lot of financial aid, a school where it is small enough that I do not blend in, and a school that is known for their Nursing program. With that it lead me to this university, knowing that a small institute would provide me with a better outlook rather than a larger university.
