Consumers rely on having a product in the right place and the right time and it needs to convenient. Time and details goes into finding out what is needed and wanted, in addition to what is desired when shopping is needed. Determining the promotional strategy that should be used in the developing the strategic market plan is very important especially how it deals with who the customer is, how to contact them, and what needs to be communicated to them. Starbuck already has strong relationship with the outside consumer which is first thing that comes to mind when drinking coffee at Starbucks. It has become a statement or an icon within the coffee industry along with Dunkin Donuts. Nostalgic memories of an old ad with an old man with a fat mustache getting up early in the morning saying “time to make the donuts” not only impacted consumers but left a mark when getting up the morning. Starbuck has that same influence when comes to coffee. Since 1971 it has made a dramatic impact with society that a coffee drinker’s morning does not start until they have had a cup of Starbuck coffee. We know the direction that Starbucks was going and according to their mission statement “To inspire and nurture the human spirit – one person, one cup and one neighborhood at a time”. (Starbucks, 2014) Starbucks has achieved this much further than Dunkin Donuts by creating a line of teas, hot chocolate, and various flavors of coffee to soothe every coffee lovers dream.
