If I Forgot Thee
1.) My initial impression of this work is that it is an interesting and original piece of work. I thought that this story was captivating and adventurous. I also thought the topic of this story was fascinating as the end of the Earth is always being anticipated by many in a variety of different ways, so this story is relatable and somewhat compelling to people, whom make up the majority of people, who are interested in that topic of Earth.
2.) The genre of the selection, If I Forgot Thee, Oh Earth, is a short story.
3.) The exposition is when Marvin is being introduced. Marvin, who is ten, is taken through the long corridors through Administration and Power until they come to the uppermost levels and are among the Farmlands, which Marvin likes. Even though he wishes to stay here, his

This leads Marvin to believe that they are going outside, this being his first time. The rising action is when they go outside and get in a surface vehicle, a scout car, and they set off across the Moon. As they journey, Marvin marvels at the bright stars all around him that he is seeing for the first time. They race across the plains of the Moon out of sight of the Colony and drive off the edge of the plateau on which it is built where there are craters, mountains, and ravines. They continue to ride on a ridged path until they cross the shadow line and drive on through valleys and past the foot of mountains until they reach a land where there is a wrinkled, dusty plain on the right and a wall of mountains on the left. They continue onward and eventually drive down into a shallow valley that curves in a great arc towards the far side, and Marvin realizes that something very strange is going on here as the valley should be in total darkness, but is illuminated by a cold white radiance. The climax is when they drive out to the open plain and Marvin discovers the source of light, Earth. Marvin looks at the brilliant planet and soon can make out

The first thing that readers and critics usually notice about Douglas Adams's novel, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, is that the book, written in a sharp and witty style, is remarkably funny. What may seem less obvious to readers, and what has often puzzled critics, is the meaning behind this light, clever exterior. David Leon Higdon has noted that imagining the end of the world has long been a tradition in science fiction, as it has been in myth and theology; and Brian Aldiss has observed the tremendous impact that the invention of bombs, which could conceivably cause the end of the world, have had on science fiction and science fiction writers. But while Adams's book does describe the destruction of the earth, his humorous, irreverent treatment of this subject does not fit neatly into the traditions described by Aldiss and Higdon.…

The Modern society is filled with fears ranging from random shootings to world wide infection, but one thing that does not cross the many minds of those living in the today’s world is the fear of the world simply coming to an end. Years of religion and science have not led anyone to feel that the end of the world is fast coming. In the article by Ira Chernus called “Cheer up, it’s just the end of the world” she goes into great detail about just how much the end of the world lacks fear. After expressing the downward slope that the world made in the sense of fearing their last minutes on earth, Chernus goes on to tell how the whole idea got started. The idea that the world could even come to an end has been long forgotten yet Chernus brings up the good point that “Apocalyptic stories have been around at least since biblical times, if not later”.…

The book is told in a circuitous way; I found the jumping back and forth in time a bit distracting, but more off-putting was the way Xeones forecasts an event or subplot before narrating it in detail later. Already knowing how Thermopylae turned out, I was hoping for some suspense in the details, but there too Pressfield tells us the end before getting started on the story…

We have evaluated a published academic paper – “Corporate sustainability: historical development and reporting practices” (by Andreas Christofi, Petros Christofi and Seleshi Sisaye, 2012). The purpose of the paper was to compare the disclosure requirement between the two widely used sustainability reporting instruments - Dow Jones Sustainability World Indexes (DJSI World) and Global Reporting Initiative G3 Guidelines (GRI-G3 Guidelines). These two instruments are similarities in the content but their disclosure requirement are different and the depths of the complexity of sustainability indicators are vary. The authors suggested that sustainability reporting framework needs undergo further standardization and enforcement of the disclosure indicators to avoid any negative impact on investors and consumers in case of corporate failure or mismanagement in the upcoming future.…

While discussing the end with his wife, the husband inquires, “Are you afraid?” (92). Both the husband and the wife expect the end of the world to be frightening, and daunting, but the couple’s fear is replaced by a sense of calm. The two of them are surprised and confused on how to spend their last day. Later, still engaged in the same conversation, the husband reflects, “I always thought people would be screaming in the streets at a time like this” (92). Society expects the end of the world to be fiery and loud, but this end seems to be the opposite of what they expected. “The Last Night of the World,” describes how the world can end unperturbed, but also…
