Importance Of A Tryout Essay
During the end of my freshman year I had received an email asking if I could attend a tryout to see if I would make the team that would be heading over to Europe to play soccer. When my mom told me that I had to go to soccer I asked her why, she said that I had a tryout to see if I would be picked to go to Spain and Portugal to play in two major international soccer tournaments that are held there. When I was told this I was very excited. I went to soccer on the weekend to go to the try out. I had got there and my two best friends were there so I was really happy. Then the practice started, we all started off doing the same thing. I was having fun and I was doing good. All in all the practice went good. About two days later I received another …show more content…
Our games where 1 hour long. But we played in the scorching heat. So it felt like it was the games where very long. But on every game I tried my best and always gave it my all even though we might have lost some games. My coach had told me that even though we lost that we can always take something positive about the lost. For example we lost a game 1-0 and he told us that the positive thing about the loss is that we know things that we can work on because we know what our weakness is. Knowing this we can take this looks and use it to our advantage because we now know what our biggest weakness is. From that game on we didn't lose a game on until we made it to the finals. We were the first American team to ever be in the finals. It was a very tough and entertaining game but in the end we lost in a penalties shootout. After the game we were all very sad and frustrated. We then got together and ate lunch and watched the next final. Then we went to the ceremony where we got out second place medal. Then we got too go to France the next day and we went to the beach. The beach was very fun and the food was very good. Once we left France we went got back to Lisbon. On our second to last day in Lisbon we went to the beach for the whole day and we were able to do whatever we wanted. At night we got back to the hotel and the hotel held a special dinner for us. Which ended our stay in

When the first game came I was extremely happy yet nervous also. We ended up winning the game by the score of three runs to two although I did not get to bat at all and was put in only for two innings of defense. I was disappointed that I did not get to play much but I was happy with the win. Our second game was the next day and I hoped to get more playing time then. When that day came it turned out that we were playing an extremely skilled team. We were losing three to one in the last inning and I still hadn’t played at all the whole game. One of my friends hit a double and then another one of my teammates hit a single to knock him in to score. The score was now three to two and we had a chance to come back. My coach then decided that we needed someone faster on the bases so he called for a…

We had made it clear to each other that he would not go unavenged. We had enough passion to fight the world if we felt absolutely necessary and we went on through what seemed like a war that weekend. Through blood, sweat, and injury, we battled for that title. The championship match came in our grasps and tensions were high for the entire game since we didn't only want to win for us, but for our coach who had recently resigned. After a game full of devastating hits and elaborate set plays, we lost after an undefeated run of 5-0-0, but we fought to the death and left it all out on the field. No regret in our heads would ever go opposite the way we played in that title match because Coach Day had educated us all that no matter how exceptionally skilled at something you believe you are, you will never progress without putting your entire willpower to the task. Without passion, you fight for nothing. Passion is what will drive you through every hill and valley of your life. From that day onward, all I have done has been for a reason and I have strong-armed my way through thick and thin to be successful in my life and I plan to extend this through my entire college career and lifetime. I will at no time give up on what I believe is crucial, similar to being successful in that tournament for my…

The team would always get there an hour early so we could stretch and hit in the cage. We were noticeably the best team in the tournament. The coach of the team was a smart guy, he wanted to win but he didn’t want to embarrass anybody. This game didn’t really mean anything, and not to mention we were playing the worst team there.…

After the third and fourth quarter we ended the game 44-6 with 36 points scored by me. Third quarter 12 points were made by me, and fourth quarter one 3 point shot was scored by me. After the game was over we went and got ice cream for the whole team. We all chose our favorite ice cream then devoured our ice creams as a team. After the ice cream we made a promise to each other that we weren’t going to lose a game at all this season, and we all went home and I will always remember this basketball game and how good of a team we were. This is my story, what is…

Our second game was against the former coach for UNA, Jason Anderson. Coach Anderson was the original coach who offered me a scholarship to UNA. The tension was high, due to familiar faces. We ended up having to play them twice and we beat them both times. After winning all four games we reached the Championship series. Humbolt, from New York, was our biggest obstacle we had to face. The team with the best two out of three wins was to be named the National Champs. The first game we played, we lost to Humbolt. The loss hit us hard and our spirits were down. All season we had not faced a pitcher that shut us down completely. Walking to the locker room after that loss, felt as if we had already became runner up in the Championship series. Beating Humbolt twice the next day, seemed to be an impossible task. We sat in silence as tears ran down our faces. Our coaches let us cry and let us get our emotions out. She knew the pressure we felt and the adversity that was staring us in the face. After 30 minutes of silence, one of the players brought up the games we had to play against UAH. Another player mentioned the victory against Valdosta, and we were instantly reminded that we were capable of anything. We knew that all of the hard work we had put in was not going to waste. We were not going to settle for anything else but a National…

It started just as any normal Saturday would; December 8, 2012, I woke up, went through my morning routine and went to soccer practice. I was competing for a spot on the North Carolina ODP (Olympic Development Program) soccer team. Training was being held at fields about two hours from my house. I sat in the backseat of my dad’s car with my two sisters and as we rode to the fields I began to mentally prepare myself for how I would play my best and make the team.…

First of all, playing sports is one of my favorite things to do. They teach me discipline and I must do and Not do what coach says. Sports also teach me good sportsmanship. I learn to love the game by playing my opponent/friends and showing how to take a win or loss. Last year playing basketball we didn’t lose but one game, I was devastated. I like to think I took the Loss ok but I just blamed it all on myself. I got to show my winning spirts in a ton of games that season, and I think I showed my happiness well. Our team didn’t brag or show off we simply just played our game, and the results turned out as they may.…

We got together and told us that even though we did not place as we would have liked to, we still accomplished so much that year. We ran as a team and had good showings at meets throughout the whole year. He told us that it is silly to say a season is a failure because of one bad race, because we had come so far from the beginning of the season. We grew as a team and had fun doing it, and that is something that we he told us to be proud of because not all high school teams could say that. Coach Ernst always knew the right thing to say to me to cheer me up and get me fired up and pushed me to my best. He also challenged me to think differently and be proud of my accomplishments even though they may not be what I expected them to…

It was winter season and that meant basketball. This year was special because I got to play for Davidson Day’s seventh and eight-grade team. See at our school the middles school ran through 5th to 8th. The middle school basketball teams were divided into a 5th-6th-grade team and a 7th 8th grade team. This season was different; we would play more games and different teams. Also we got a new coach and older teammates. Tryouts were rough; the older kids were picking on the 7th graders constantly. I was the only one they liked because I was good. The season got even worse. The 7th graders never played in the games and sometimes in the locker room older kids would yell at us for messing up. This was horrible to watch and be apart of.…

So we kinda knew we were gonna win, but we didn’t want to jinx it and lose. We had a fantastic game and won 14-1. I had a total 0 plays out in the outfield and that sure was a whole lot of fun. I went 3-4 when I was batting which is ok but I could have gone 4-4, Since I wasn’t seeing the ball out of the pitcher's hand I was late on the ball and was all in all, a bad game. Our season was doing really well and ended really poorly, It ended by us losing 9-1, We were not happy nor were we upset that we lost. but we understood we needed to get better. Whereas High school baseball is gonna be way better cause we don’t play the same teams we play easier teams. Which is nice because we will win much easier and not have any competition. The high school team consistently wins regionals which is cool and they have been to state a couple…

Have you ever been proud after coming home from tryouts? Tryouts can be a struggle for some but for others, it can be a breeze. So should there be tryouts? I think there should be tryouts because it teaches kids important life lessons and if there weren’t tryouts there would be too many kids on the teams. However, others strongly believe that it puts too much pressure on kids.…

Everyone on my team, including me, were 120% focused during our warm-up because we were versing a good Illinois team and their team’s name was Euro SC Select. This team had a lot of skilled and fast players that were definitely bigger than us. Most of the players on this team were very aggressive and physical too, so my team had to be very strong. There weren’t many times when my soccer games were really intense, but this game was very intense to watch and the parents were getting so nervous and anxious. It was a really close game and we ended up tying the game 0-0. Because of the tie in the championship game, we had to go into penalty kicks. My coach got to choose 5 people to kick from the penalty box and they have to try to make it in. My team was so scared to the point where we all held hands and we stayed very close to each other. In the end we were happy because we had made 3 out of 5 goals in and the other team only made 1 goal out of 5 shots! To phrase it better, my team won the tournament and we all lived happily ever…

I was extremely nervous despite the fact that everyone had told me I was going to make varsity since I had done so well at camp. There were about 23 people trying out for varsity and only 18 could make it and so I had a good chance at making the team but that still did not calm my nerves. Before we went out to the brand new turf field for tryouts I was psyching myself out and was doubting myself in all ways possible. My hands were shaking, I was sweating, all while listening to the calm chatter of everyone else echoing loudly in the locker room. “You can’t make varsity; the others are just too good” I was telling myself. During tryouts the pace was fast, the humidity was high, and our spirits were just as high. We had to do lots of ball work and ball skills on the first day and I was messing up completely at times. At one point I screamed out in utter anger because I just could not get my feet to do the correct things. I was so angry with myself because I knew I could do better than what I had done that day. I went home feeling utterly defeated but ready for the next day because there were two days of tryouts. The next day I felt absolutely great and I was doing everything right! I was passing every drill while receiving complements from my coaches. I felt great and as I was walking up the big, blue steps to the locker room, I knew that I had done great at…

I wake up on a normal November Saturday morning. My mom is yelling at me “get ready, you have your soccer game!” I am scrambling trying to find all my stuff because I forgot it was the first game of the season. I yell back down to my mom “give me 5 minutes”. I throw my shorts and jersey on and walk down the stairs just to find out I do not have indoor soccer shoes. I know am panicking more then ever and have to wear normal tennis shoes. My mom tells me I will be fine and to get in the car so I did and we…
