importance of time
Do to the fact that I could not maintain punctuality in a classroom environment I shall be writing an essay of the importance of punctuality in the United States Military. Now of course it seems like this would be easy to understand however I had managed to forget it and this shall explain it in this essay.
Before you can understand how being punctual is important you must understand what being punctual means. Punctuality is the characteristic of being able to complete a required task or fulfill a moral duty before or at a specific time. There is often an understanding that a small amount of lateness is acceptable.. However in some cultures, such as Japanese society, or in the military there basically is no allowance. Some cultures have an unspoken understanding that actual deadlines are different from stated deadlines; for example, it may be understood in a particular culture that people will turn up an hour later than advertised. In this case, since everyone understands that a 9 A.M. meeting will actually start around 10am, no-one is inconvenienced when everyone turns up at 10am. In cultures which value punctuality, being late is tantamount to showing disrespect for another's time and may be considered insulting. In such cases, punctuality may be enforced by social penalties, for example by excluding low-status latecomers from meetings entirely.
Being at the right place at the right time for any member of the Army is extremely essential to the defense of the entire United States of America. It's because of this that being on time is remarkably important. Dependability, accountability, consistency and discipline are all crucially related to being on time. Furthermore, promptness also shows that the individual Soldier aims high and has their priorities straight. However, being where one needs to be at the appointed time will always be one of the most important aspects of being a Soldier. This is why failure to be on time not only severely hinders mission

In the following paper I will be discussing what series of actions brought me to write this paper, the army regulations surrounding said actions, the possible effects these actions might have on the accomplishment of the mission, the possible affects on your career, and how to discourage and possibly stop such things from ever happening soon or ever again. The reason I am being subject to this time consuming, uninspired, and rather lackluster writing assignment is because I failed to be at the correct place of duty at the time appointed to me by my superiors. The day before we had a relatively late work call and I adjustment my alarm clock to reflect the change and give myself ample time to get myself ready for that particular formation. As I made my daily preparations for bed I overlooked the fact I had changed my alarm clock time the previous night, as u can imagine I woke up later than I would have preferred to give myself enough time to make it to the formation at the correct time. So now that you, the reader, are clear to the events leading up this paper we may start our journey into a little paper I have modestly called “importance of not being late”.…

In the army, we are constantly training our mind and bodies for a combat environment. In such an environment, the level of involvement must be much higher. It is understood that any mistake, however seemingly small can have extreme consequences. Among those consequences are situations which can lead to soldiers loosing their lives.…

This essay will consist of comparing and contrasting the behavior of the military experienced and the non-military experienced group in an attempt to prove why the militaristic behavior is superior. Being on time is important in everything you do especially in the medical field. By not being on time you can cause problems for not just you but other people as well. For instance, if you are to be replacing someone and you are not on time you can make that person late because they had to wait for you. By just one person being late can disrupt the events of an entire day and also a whole day of scheduling. An example of this is a patient having to wait for medical services due to you being late. If you are late to an appointment you are taking up valuable time that could be used by another person. Another reason it is always important to be on time is if you are going to a job interview and you are not on time you could lose the position because it is a first impression of how your work ethic could be. Even if you just make plans with some friends to see a movie, you should be on time because if you are late you and your friends will miss part of the movie. In the military you can receive severe punishment under the Uniform Code of Military Justice for not being on time. Some of the consequences can include loss of rank, loss of pay, and having to pull extra duty while under restriction. Repeatedly being late in the military could lead to a discharge from service. Also if you are constantly late for employment you will face punishment that could include having your hours cut back, your earnings garnished, or possibly fired from that position. After creating a history of being late to a point that you are let go from your job, it can become difficult to find future employment due to the fact that employers will contact your previous employer to find out why you were released from your position with that company resulting in a bad reference. Also after making a habit of being late to your friends, family and your employers you will not be considered reliable you will overlooked with important events due to your lack of time management. The decisions you and I make every single day do not just affect ourselves, we must remember that our actions can affect everybody around us. This statement holds most true when we speak of the importance of being on time. Military wise, tardiness is just plain unacceptable. As United States Army soldiers, we are held to a higher standard. There are many reasons why soldiers are to receive corrective action, if not UCMJ (Uniform Code Military Justice) action, for failure to be at ones place of duty at the time specified. That one late soldier is not only affecting himself, his actions may very well affect his whole unit. That one late soldier could put an adverse effect on the whole mission. The United States Army as a whole, would be a much more proficient unit, if every soldier were always on time.…

I am writing this essay as a plan of action because I managed to miss a scheduled appointment. Missing a scheduled appointment may seem like a rather miniature infraction, but if you think about it and trace it back far enough it has a negative impact on all parties involved in it. Missing an appointment shows a lack of accountability on my part, effects the army as a whole; as well, it costs the Army money for another who may have needed that appointment. Service members are held to higher standards than civilians are. We protect our country and being a Soldier I am supposed to lead by example and I cannot lead if I cannot even show up for any of my appointments on time.…

On a small scale, being punctual for formations and general points of duty allows leaders to ensure accountability for their soldiers, address notes and tasks for the day, and promotes organization within the unit. In a larger picture, everyone’s responsibilities for the day are dependent on the entire unit to be where they need to be at the appropriate time. For example, in the event of a company going to the range the armor has to be available to open the arms room to issue the weapons as leaders need ample time to take accountability of their soldiers and to thoroughly conduct pre-combat checks and pre-combat inspections. Support units are obligated to arrive on time due to their responsibility to provide ammunition and transportation. Something as simple as the armor being late can cause a domino effect for the entire mission.…

The dictionary defines punctual as: Acting or arriving exactly at the time appointed; prompt. Under the rigid and disciplined structure of military life there is no margin for error. The slightest modicum of hesitation or procrastination can result in the tragic loss of innumerable lives. There are many circumstances where a failure to be prompt could have dire consequences. Under certain circumstances not arriving for guard duty at the designated time could allow a breach of security that could ultimately end in the brutal murder of your peacefully slumbering, unsuspecting battle buddies at the zealous hands of our insurgent foes. Choosing an example from a different segment of the spectrum of responsibility, we see how a noncommissioned officers failure to release his soldiers in a timely manner can affect the combat effectiveness of the entire unit. If this leaders long windedness results in a soldier consistently being released to go on shift without enough time to eat, the soldier may resort to eating junk food to prevent his stomach from reaching a painful, distended state. Over time these seemingly minor indiscretions on the part of this non commissioned officer could culminate in the sum total of a malnourished, ineffectual soldier. Keeping in mind that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, the callused behavior of one leader can exponentially reduce the combat readiness of an entire unit.…

Punctuality shows that you are responsible, trustworthy and can follow directions. Punctuality isn't just an order that the Army requires, but also a good personal trait that is a reflection of a person’s character, it shows that you have personal integrity and self-discipline. While some of us are occasionally late due to circumstances beyond our control, habitual tardiness shows a lack of respect for other people and their time. If someone is late continually that shows that they more then likely do not care about what their NCO tells them. Time is a precious gem that should not be wasted at any cost. If you don't use your time wisely, you can never get it back. It is a very special resource in that you cannot store it or save it for later. Promptness is not only a duty, but is also a part of good manners, it is favorable to fortune, reputation, influence, and usefulness. Lack of punctuality is a theft of someone else's time and a complete lack of respect for others. You should be punctual in everything you do. Punctuality goes hand in hand with military discipline. Recruits are taught to obey, immediately and without question, orders from their superiors, right from the day one of boot camp. Military discipline and effectiveness is built on the foundation of obedience to orders. This is why we are supposed work so well as a team. By following orders from the more…

It is indisputable fact that the punctuality is a virtue, but there are some strong arguments that show it is overrated. These arguments can be classified into a few different classifications such as the quality of solutions limited by time, the possible tolerance for the late-comers, effective time and other qualifications referring to the time-work relation. Doubtlessly, being on time is important, but in most cases it is not crucial.…
