India- 2020- My Mission
India with her varied incarnations is an old civilization and an extremely complex society. Her glorious past, natural beauty, resources, vast size and above all her unique geographical location has always given her the pride of place in the world. With the ups and downs of history it has retained its vibrancy. My mission of India 2020AD is a visionary’s agenda full of hopes and resolves to work towards it.
As understanding of the historical traditions is very important in order to form a concrete futuristic vision of nation like India. India has a long history and as it is understood presently, it has covered a span of five thousand years since the period of its first known civilization. During all these times a long steam of immigrants, representing different ethnic strains and linguistic families, have merged into its population to contribute to its diversity, richness and vitality. India is probably the only civilization in the world which shows a clear continuity of its several traditions from the times of its earliest known civilization. Even today several levels of social evolution coexist in India and its composite identity has won her the of quoted cliché, unity indiversity.
A country of India's dimension is bound to have its share of problems and failings. However, the vibrant nation sets about overcoming its shortcomings, protecting its culture and enriching the material as well as cultural life of its people. So, obviously I visualize an all around growth and development of India.
The Indian society of my vision will be different from the present one. Hopefully in the 2020 AD, India will rid itself of the discriminating nature of its caste system. There will be quality in all fields for everyone. There also will be not be some unfortunate customs like dowry system, child labor as well as discrimination against women or weaker sections of the society. I hope the society itself will develop a mechanism to promote the well being of everyone without

India’s economic growth rate is supposed to be even higher in the next few years. It is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. The Indian rupee has even grown stronger than the United States dollar (Roskins, 467). With all this said, India seems like its on track to be a dominating world power. It is the past which shapes what we become in the present. Most of what we do and follow today has been decided in the past which is why we have to understand who we were to become who we have to be. India is one of the few civilizations which has been in existence for more than 5000 years. India is a homogenous culture and it has such strong roots that we have been able to absorb any outside intervention with ease. Be it the Muslim Kings or the Mughals, we have integrated everyone into our culture. “Everybody looks different and dresses differently. Complexions range from white to black coffee; noses from Biblical spurs to Mongolian pugs; some people are very tall, others very short. Dress, like a botanical classification, reveals the exact identity of the bearer his or her religion, caste, region and occupation. The variety is endless.” India’s composite culture led to the spirit of tolerance; and acceptance of each other despite differences. Fertile plains of India, made the struggle of survival easier – people developed habits of ease and pleasure, could not stand the physically stronger foreigners. Even the Muslims, lost their original virility and they were conquered by others. In order to capture the variety of these cultures and to understand the depth of their impact on our lives we have tried to bring out the specificities of each Age through our project. The different policies, the rituals, the system of administration, the technological inventions all have contributed towards our unique culture. Our project aims at understanding all these impacts in a consolidated way and help us understand our past. Our project covers the eras from the stone age man till the Mughal era and all the impacts, the technological advancements, the social system, the economic policies and the…
