Smoking can affect pretty much everything in a teens body. When teenagers smoke it affects their brain, heart, lungs, stomach and hormones, blood and the immune system and muscle and bones. When teens smoke it can affect the brain by stunting the growth of the prefrontal cortex. Also smoking affects their heart and lungs, smoking raises teens blood pressure which then stresses out their hearts. Also smoking makes your blood thick and sticky, making it harder for it move around in your body. Sticky blood is more likely to cause deadly blood clots that blocks the flow of your blood from your heart and brain. Smoking affects your lungs by causing them to inflame and make it a lot harder to breathe. Also teen’s lungs are still growing and smoking can stunt the growth of teen’s lungs. Smoking also causes more belly fat in teens, and the bigger you are increases the chance of type 2 diabetes. When you smoke it also makes your white blood cells stay higher and weakens teens immune systems. Smoking can also tire teens muscles and disrupt bone growth. When you smoke it makes it harder for oxygen to get to your muscles and breaks down your bone tissue.
