Informational Speech: The Columbian Drug Cartel * Title: The Columbian Drug Cartel * General Purpose: To inform * Specific Purpose: To inform the audience on the major aspects of the Columbian Drug Cartel by focusing on the two larges Cartels in Columbia—Medellin Cartel and Cali Cartel. * Central Idea: By first focusing on the generalized synopsis of how the Columbian Drug Cartels function, I will then be able to give a more detailed account of the two larges Cartels from Columbia—Medellin Cartel and the Cali Cartel. * Introduction: * What do Walmart, Boeing, Pepsi Co., and Columbian Drug Cartels have in common? * Well the first three are legal fortune 500 companies * Columbian Drug Cartels are just run like one * Drug Cartels are Criminal Organizations with the main focus of promoting and controlling drug trafficking * Started around the 1970s as small cocaine smuggling business * Could process a kilo of cocaine for $1,500 in Columbia * Sell that same kilo for $50,000 in America * By the 1980’s, the drug exports in Columbia exceeded coffee by 30% and the drug Cartels were held not only the most land, but also the most political power in Columbia * Today, I will inform you of the major aspects of the trafficking of drugs from Columbian by focusing on the two larges Cartels in Columbian History—the Medellin Cartel and the Cali Cartel. * Body:
