INTRODUCTION
I. Many people have that one vacation that has been special to them, whether it was a family camping trip, spring break cruise or maybe backpacking through Europe with a best friend, take a second and think about what yours would be.
a. Well, the best vacation I’ve ever experienced was a two-week trip to Mexico in January of 2009 with seven of my friends who doubled as my classmates, my Spanish teacher and a parent chaperone.
II. This trip was so exciting, delving into another culture so different from my own and living with a Mexican family for a little over a week- this quickly became one of the best adventures of my life.

Mexico is a large country located in Central America and has a population of over 100 million people.
a. The country of Mexico is separated into different states; the one I spent the majority of my trip in was Morelos, who’s capital is Cuernavaca.
i. The capital of Mexico is Mexico City and, much like Washington, D.C., is located in the Distrito Federal, also known as the Federal District, and Mexico City is actually the place where we began our stay in Mexico.
b. As we traveled to various cities around the central states of Mexico, I observed that there was a range of climates extending from dry desert to tropical, and our guide, Eduardo, informed me that it changes with the seasons.

I found the variety of climates within such meager proximity very intriguing.
In addition to Mexico’s climate…

The first was chile, which is a pepper-based sauce that is often put in enchiladas, over burritos or my personal favorite, around the rim of beer mugs, which is where I first experienced it. ii. The second is called mole.
1. Mole is a very popular sauce that is common in Mexico, especially in the mid to southern states.
2. Not only did I learn about mole, but I also tried it.
a. Unfortunately, the chocolate-pepper mix did not sit well with me, but my classmates loved it.
c. In a word, I was very grateful for the variety of food in Mexico.
i. As a picky eater, I was hesitant as to what the difference between American-Mexican and true Mexican food was going to be, but I was certainly not disappointed.
CONCLUSION
I. All things considered, Mexico is a very compelling country that I am ever grateful I had the opportunity to visit, and I will never forget my time there.
a. Although I was only in Mexico for two weeks, I feel like it was much longer bas a result of the lifelong relationships that were formed and the knowledge I gained.
II. The jaunt broadened my awareness of Mexico and its’ social, academic and food customs.
III. I hope it is apparent to you the impact that my favorite trip had on who I am, and I hope that you, too, will be touched by something as paramount as my stay in Mexico
