When we think of childhood, most of us have an image embedded in our minds of a place blessed with ceaseless joy and happiness. It’s a time in our life during which an individual is free of responsibilities but subsequently begins to learn right from wrong. Bless Me, Ultima by Ruldolfo Anaya, however, offers a differing viewpoint on childhood and adolescence; one denoted by an inauguration into adulthood and maturity. Antonio Márez, the protagonist of Bless Me, Ultima, is a six year old boy whose childhood is marked by many conflicts and events that administer a lasting impact on his life. Ruldolfo Anaya, through the character of Antonio and his brothers, presents to the reader a childhood marked by a loss of innocence and progression into adulthood through the development of moral independence, expectations from family and culture of what one has to become in the future, and development of the judgment of what is good and what is evil/or a sin. Through the culmination of these three factors, we can see how Anaya’s representation of childhood contributes to the meaning of this fine piece of literature, which is one of a transition from innocence to experience through moral independence.…
This book provides some very insightful information as it relates to the integration of Psychology and Christianity. Entwistle (2010) first raises the question, “What has Psychology to do with Christianity? To answer this question, he raises several objections about the two being integrated. The first objection is based on assumptions and our Christian beliefs. Secondly, the Christian worldview encourages us to act humanly, to love people as God loves us. Third, as Christians, we are called to do all things “as unto God,” which means, at least, that we should do them with integrity, humility, and competence (Entwistle 2010, p. 11). These objections aid in providing better understanding as to why psychology and theology can and should be integrated.…

Besides, it could stretch the mind and change the view. I agree with Alex Kern when he said, "it's important that you study things you dislike" you will never recognize how helpful is this and it can change your thoughts. For instant, having a subject that isn’t involved with you major could change you view. From expires that I had, I study web codding is won’t in my major sheet. In the bugging it wasn’t easy at all but I get bass it. Now I am glad that I talked it helps me in my job and let to create and fixed so codding it wasn’t in my department. Another point that Alex Kern mentions is, "most important lessons cannot be learned from books" true, its come from the memory and the experiences that you will have and it will stay will you for ever. Also, having your degree could get you the job of your dreams. For instance, Steve jobs, the founder of Apple. So, let your goal be finishing you…

Evidence-based practice (EBP) is an interdisciplinary approach to clinical practice that has been gaining ground following its formal introduction in 1992. It started in medicine as evidence-based medicine (EBM) and spread to other fields such as dentistry, nursing, psychology, education, library and information science and other fields. Its basic principles are that all practical decisions made should 1) be based on research studies and 2) that these research studies are selected and interpreted according to some specific norms characteristic for EBP. Typically such norms disregard theoretical and qualitative studies and consider quantitative studies according to a narrow set of criteria of what counts as evidence. If such a narrow set of…

The most valuable, interesting, and useful that I learned is the value of liberal arts education comes from the diversity of subjects. As a liberal arts major, I can do anything I want with the degree. I believe that there are a lot of employers that would recommend a liberal arts education as the best way to prepare for success in today’s world. Some of my military retired colleagues say they would give hiring preference to college graduates with skill that enable them to contribute to innovation in the workplace. That’s because the degree in liberal arts provided me the abilities I need to work and contribute anywhere. The purpose this degree is not to prepare me for one specific job. It’s to give me a broad ability to adapt to a multitude…
